Homing Lightning good or bad, if good, why and what for: side or main deck?

My thoughts - Better than Mizzium Mortars - Cheaper than overload and instant speed.

It's really only good against Pack Rat and other token cards. I'd say 2 in the sideboard at best. Mizzium Mortars is just better because it hits everything.

It is good, I think.

I would keep it in the sideboard as a counter to heavy token spam decks or, because it deals 4 damage, to take care of more difficult threats like Courser of Kruphix and Loxodon Smiter .

If say I run 4 xSatyr Firedancer then would Homing Lightning or Mizzium Mortars even be worth it? What about Fated Conflagration or even say Boulderfall ? I do also run 4xOracle of Bones and they are both instants.

it's a red Bile Blight which would be cool, but then again, Fated Conflagration outright kills walkers like Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Jace, Architect of Thought after they resolve and tick up once, whereas the Homing Lightning would only be able to target creatures. But I still say the Homing Lightning would be good as you'll have your own creatures with which to beat down the opposing Walker's after you Homing Lightning away all their elspeth soldier tokens, much in the same way Bile Blight is being used. It's nice that it doubles as a single shot Mortars that can take out pesky 4 toughness critters like Archangel of Thune and Brimaz, King of Oreskos .

Ok, well, I sideboard 3Anger of the Gods so Homing Lightning is prolly out, but i am going to make room for 2Fated Conflagration i think it will help with the wlakers.

If we're talking about RDW, I'd go for neither, especially since you mentioned you're playing Satyr Firedancer . Even without the Satyr, you want burns that can also hit the player in such a deck, such as Shock , Magma Jet , and/or Lightning Strike . But if it's between those two, I'd take the Mortars since it can be cast for 2. Keep in mind that you're trying to win by turn 4-5.
