Future wincon for control? he seems pretty good if asked me. Pretty much unblockable for aggro. high power and 6dmg upon death.

Thoughts?

Control decks want a wincon that is hard to kill, like AEtherling . The 6 damage on death is irrelevant unless your opponent takes a couple damage from their own lands AND you play three doom engines AND all three of them die.

Yes but AEtherling is rotating, and unless somethign else comes Scuttling Doom Engine is a good replacement.

I don't buy the whole aggro argument though because honestly if aggro hasn't won by T6 then you've just won regardless.

It's good against other control, our just Elspeth, Sun's Champion in general

My friend keeps swearing by ramping with Generator Servant into Scuttling Doom Engine and I keep telling him to prepare to change his plan post-sideboarding because no one with a brain is going to fall for that twice.

I love Generator Servant . Everyone sees him and immediately hates on him. Thats right .... use up your removal. I've got better things to come.

In response to removal you can still sac for the mana. Anyway using killspells on mana dorks is actually sometimes recommended.

Since it buys you time to get more removal. But if they ramp into multiple threats on one turn, you're screwed

I think Scuttling Doom Engine will make a pretty big impact on the current standard format as we know it. It's one of those cards that people will think about playing against when they make their deck lists.

I already have my playset, and I do expect it to grow in popularity.

Let's jump to assumptions about the new Standard without knowing anything about Khans of Tarkir!

$20 maybe. It is going to be a monster. I want to buy a few sets, and sit on them, but I am a cheapo.
