Doomblade coming back just makes things a hell of a lot easier. Combine that with Warped Physique and we have some pretty good weapons. Others I'm sure will hate it, lol.

I wish they had brought back Incinerate instead of Shock

I like the Staff cycle they put in, it empowers mono-colored decks again.

Interesting. I wondered what they would be moving to with the new Core Set, at least in regards to what will be Black's standard kill spell in the new meta. I wonder if there will be any griping about having to go from Murder to Doom Blade .

Will "Opportunity" be the poor man's Sphinx's Revelation ?

Instant
Target player draws four cards.
I think I could run it since Revelation is over $20 a piece.

Use opportunity at end of opponents turn, make them draw 4. Your turn rolls around, use Reap Intellect , have some fun! (obviously there may need to be some sort of ramp or mana accelerant to make this useful and it would be late game against control decks)

Doom Blade made my day. Finally good targeted removal (Warped Physique is good, but we still need more).

@seevers35 the card ''oportunity'' you mention. i think it will simply be descent carddraw for those that dont use white.

detentionsphere: I agree, we've definitely missed some mono-colour instant 2CMC removal. Ultimate Price is a halfway decent card, though the limitation was obviously working against it in this cycle. Also Victim of Night had a huge drawback and was hard to cast T2 for Non-mono-black decks.

Shock - it's not lightning bolt, but damn it feels good to be a gangsta!

B/R control is finally a thing again:
Blood Scrivener , Doom Blade , Dreadbore , Sire Of Insanity , And if done before the rotation you also get Olivia Voldaren and Tragic Slip and Vampire Nighthawk .

@cartwheelnurd: the thing is, with such amazing manafixing, there is no reason not to run three colors. Green offers Farseek , Huntmaster of the Fells Flip , and Thragtusk .
This is why, unfortunately, otherwise fine decks, like UW control, are not played; because they are strictly worse than their three-color counterparts, like UWR, Bant, or Esper.
