Hello. I was wondering about the 3rd ability on Simic Charm where it says return target creature to owner's hand. There are two different situations I am unsure of:1. Can I Simic Charm a creature back to my hand from the graveyard? (I believe so because it just says target creature)2. If someone Traitorous Blood's my creature, and I forget to Simic Charm it first and let it resolve, can I Simic Charm that creature back to my hand when he attacks with it?

  1. You cannot target a creature in a graveyard with simic charm. Creatures only count as creatures on the battlefield.

  2. Yes you can use simic charm to return that creature to your hand.

  1. Permanent cards are only their permanent type when they are on the battlefield. In this case, a creature is only a creature on the battlefield, in all other zones they are creature cards. So, no you cannot return a creature card from your graveyard to your hand. For reference look at Angel of Serenity, which specifies creatures and/or creature cards.

  2. Simic Charm's third ability targets any creature and returns it to its owner's hand. The owner of a card never changes, so your creature would be returned to your hand.

1) No, abilities that target permanents only work on the battlefield. A creature is a permanent with the type Creature, vs a creature card, which is what it is in any other zone. Whenever something refers to a card type with out saying "card", (such as saying "creature" instead of "creature card"), it's referring to a permanent on the battlefield.

2) Yes, as long as you can still target the creature, that will work. Simic Charm doesn't have any restrictions on which creature you can target, such as "target creature you control''.
