I stepped away from the game for the past few months and since then M14 was released. How have things changed and what are the best additions to the standard format thus far...just so i can get caught up. Thanks guys!
yeah junk rites needed to go down a peg or two. anything particularly OP at the moment cardwise?

Archangel of Thune = most expensive card from M14 (because paired with other cards like Scavenging Ooze or Trostani, Selesnya's Voice it's just stupid) with Kalonian Hydra being a close second (last time I checked).

Out of the new cards, only Kalonian Hydra and Archangel of Thune are the"OP" cards. But even they have to be built around, although the Archangel more than the hydra. But there's plenty of great supporters like Lifebane Zombie and 4 others that have a similar second ability. Plus, slivers are back.

Silence Wild Ricochet Mindsparker Tidebinder Mage Lifebane Zombie Fiendslayer Paladin Witchstalker Haunted Plate Mail Mutavault Kalonian Hydra Archangel of Thune Scavenging Ooze Burning Earth Grim Return Xathrid Necromancer
These are some of the cards in the set that i'd deem very usable, at least in some form or fasion. Sideboard is important, and those hoser cards are great!

Geesh I didnt realize how good Archangel of Thune was. Never thought of the synergy with Trostani, Selesnya's Voice . Has any of the old staples of standard been replaced by anything better? like the usual 1 2 3 4 drops that pop up in almost every deck. like Hellrider popular 4 ...along with Huntmaster of the Fells Flip . Can't think of other examples now but you know. Or even any of the popular spells that might be outmatched by something in M14 that I will need to go back through my decks and fix...

Path of Bravery and Imposing Sovereign are both pretty wicked, but then again I'm partial to them as an avid White Weenie player.

B/W humans became a deck, Jund now has a definite advantage over Junk Rites, and a couple of cards made mono white possible... oh and there's the usual power summer standard elf deck.
