Someone build a deck that exploits this infinate combo!

So, with the new set out I was trying to come up with a new infinite combo. Check out Midnight Guard+Ornithopter+Retraction Helix+Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit for infinite bolsters? Someone want to build a deck that exploits this?

Um, there's a problem there: the counter goes on Ornithopter, since it has the least toughness, and when you return the thopter to your hand, it looses the counter. So to resume, you can go infinitely, but you will always end up with a 1/3 Ornithopter :(

Well, what if you put retraction helix on the stack right after the thopter enters but before Anafenza resolves? When do you pick, when you put it on the stack?

Well, that's something that's a bit too technical for my basic MTG knowledge :) Not sure, someone else will have to confirm that.

Bolster checks on resolution of the trigger, so as far as I know this works.

yes this will work if you stack the triggers in the correct order.

cast ornithopter
ornithopter resolves
Anafenzs bolster goes onto the stack
midnight guard's ability onto the stack
midnight guard's ability resovles
return ornithoper to your hand
bolster ability resolves puting counters on either Anafenza or midnight guard.

repeat as needed

It's alright, but it seems like Altar of the Brood just does a better job in that combo than Ana.

Impact Resonance and Altar of the Brood both seem better than Anafenza in this situation.

You can do the combo with Retraction Helix instead of Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit

If you use the Altar of the Brood method, it also works with Zephyr Scribe and any 0CMC non-creature artifact... while also having a dig-engine for the combo.

Being mono- for the entire combo is nice as well, but for the deck is probably better, and more consistent, giving access to Valorous Stance, to protect your combo creatures, and Monastery Mentor (huge swam of tokens instead of mill combo).

Add Ensoul Artifact, and Darksteel Citadel (You already have Ornithopter, Altar of the Brood, and Briber's Purse) to the deck to have the ability to win with powerhouse hits, and you may have a deck going...
