I have seen a ton of posts on here about how bomb this card is because it prevents people from drawing tons of cards, but I don't think control really gives a f*** about having to remove your creature when it's time to draw cards. As a novice control player I am not really that threatened by it because my entire deck is built around removing what I don't want to deal with. HOWEVER I think the best thing about this card against control, and what I have never seen mentioned is that it is a 3 power. I'm guessing not many thought that was good because it is a 1 toughness, but against control, you won't be facing any creatures while this thing is swinging away for 3 life. Is it mainboard worthy? Honestly I don't think so, but against control I think it would do some serious damage before someone realized what a threat it really was. But I'm a noob, so I could just be over thinking things.

Its better in legacy. I use it in my Dodge and Stab deck where it can be flashed in with AEther Vial as a response to Brainstorm :)

smackjack is right. Spirit of the Labyrinth isn't as strong in Standard as it is in Modern or Legacy, where there are lots of ways to instant speed it to stop a Brainstorm or AEther Vial it into a Sphinx's Revelation .

Spirit of the Labyrinth was made for modern and especially legacy. Just imagine an opponent casting Brainstorm and in response you AEther Vial the Spirit of the Labyrinth ! Also in Legacy people don't play as many removal spells. Still I don't think it will be as good as Thalia, Guardian of Thraben

I think she's better than Daring Skyjek , and might just take his place mainboard since she does something immediately and doesn't rely on other things to be useful at the same time as being a 3/1 beater

As a control player I think she is a good card but unless you can flash her in when I'm drawing then I don't really care if she is on the field or not. The best place for her, in my opinion, is legacy. She will see play in standard mainly because of Sphinx's Revelation but she won't be amazing in standard.

Currently I'm putting some to work on a side project in standard. Enchanting her with Ethereal Armor can be a little dumb, a 5/3 with first strike on turn 3 is pretty damn good.

She was built for modern/legacy as others have said though.

Apparently I can't type in the morning.

Currently I'm putting her to work on a side project in standard.*
