Standard Combo

Now, I believe this combo is too slow for my taste, but I'm happy somebody at my FNM was in fact playing a deck based around this;

Imagine; Elite Arcanist + Silence

It's a T-5 combo if not using ramp. The ONLY way I could see this is in a control deck, or some weird Naya-Burn/Creature strange thing... I don't even know...

I wouldn't play it myself, but I fell in love with the idea. I'm not sure if this is an already published thing, but I've never seen It before, haha.

People have been bouncing around some ideas regarding Elite Arcanist for a while now, but I don't think there are any top-tier decks that capitalize on them. Elite Arcanist is simply too slow and vulnerable for serious play.

It's a cool idea, but still fragile and vulnerable. Hero's Downfall , Doom Blade , and even Spark jolt can put a stop to it very fast.

Not to mention that all of those cards can be cast even through the lock

The best combo with Elite Arcanist that I know of is the instant win one: Elite Arcanist + Triton Tactics + Zhur-Taa Druid

Any combo with Elite Arcanist is terrabad in standard, simply due to the vast amount of removal that there is. To get around Elite arcanist and Silence , just play instant speed removal, and cast it in response to silence. To get around the Triton Tactics combo, doom blade at any time before / during the combo.

right. the combo isn't perfect. however, with the right protection (its awesome to respond to the Doom Blade with a Triton Tactics from hand and combo the win in response to Doom Blade . ) it can work in a FNM type tournament. It will probably never make a tier 1 deck but it is fun to play around with on a smaller scale.

not a good strategy you people say... challenge accepted

Again guys, I would never try to seriously run that combo myself, haha. I just like the idea of it, on paper, where nobody casts kill-spells. It's definitely not perfect, just funny.

Have Gods Willing or a similar protection spell to save the arcanist

cestdesconneries Oh no problem, i just built that a while back because i too thought it a cool combo. I don't own it, i instead opted to buy my mono white weenie build i'm running for this standard season. I would have ran that, but as pointed out the combo, as ridiculous and fun it is to pull off, is too fragile.
