Standard counters...

How would you rate the top 3 best counters currently in standard?

At this time, I'd probably say:

1) Syncopate

2) Essence Scatter

3) Dissipate

Syncopate is better against aggro decks, Dissipate excels against Control.

If it's just a Blue splash, Syncopate is definitely better, but in general I would probably give Dissipate a slight edge over Syncopate .

Both of them are, I feel, better than Essence scatter though. If you're playing USA, Grixis or U/R/x, then Counterflux is also very decent, even though the mana cost is restrictive.

For America, Render Silent and Dissipate , with Counterflux sided in against control.

I'm currently playing Esper, and so far I'd found that my preference is as follows:

1) Syncopate

2) Render Silent

3) Dissipate

Honorable Mention) Rewind ... yes, I know I'm being difficult and sneaking in a 4th

I personally hate Syncopate . Sure you can counter something turn 2, but for every turn after that Dissipate is so much better.

1. Dissipate (exiles Snapcaster targets/flashback cards)
2. Counterflux (uncounterable)
3. Syncopate (good on the play but horrendous on the draw)
