Strionic Resonator trigger

So, I have Strionic Resonator and Scavenging Ooze and I'm just wondering why WotC didn't include the "if" clause. Shouldn't it be considered as a triggering keyword, too?

It's not really a trigger though, it's just stating if a certain clause is met, you get a counter and one life.

And remember, Scavenging Ooze has an activated ability, not a triggered one.

While it's true that paying one Green mana to exile target card, is an activated ability, I feel that the +1/+1 counter and life gain is "triggered" because it fulfills a condition.

Also tried looking at Gatherer, and the Ruling just convinced me more it's triggered and should work with Strionic Resonator.

Activated abilities do not equal triggered abilities. The counter and life is just a clause of the activated ability, therefore, it is not considered a triggered ability.

Strionic Resonator can only copy triggered abilities on the stack. Gaining life and the +1/+1 is added as the Activated ability of Ooze resolves, so it isn't put onto the stack to be a copied.

The Comprehensive Rules definitions of activated and triggered abilities are as follows:

602.1. Activated abilities have a cost and an effect. They are written as [Cost]: [Effect.] [Activation instructions (if any).]

603.1. Triggered abilities have a trigger condition and an effect. They are written as [Trigger condition], [effect], and begin with the word when, whenever, or at. They can also be expressed as [When/Whenever/At] [trigger event], [effect].

Scavenging Ooze has only an activated ability. This ability has a second clause which can potentially change its effect. It is not a separate triggered ability, as it does not contain the keywords "when", "whenever", or "at".

Note that these definitions have been in place since long before Strionic Resonator was printed, and they are not likely to change.

Illusionist's Bracers would work for that idea of doubling the ooze's effect.

Actually you'd need 2 creatures or cards in the graveyard to use bracers that way. Because evn though you can target the same spell with the copied activated ability, the second time it tries to resolve it will try to exile an already exiled spell and be countered due to no legal target, so for it to work you'd need to target 2 seperate cards
