Temur in standard?

When we look at the MTGtop8, there is only 1% Temur. I was wondering why this is? Surrak Dragonclaw and Savage Knuckleblade both seems really good, but is not played. Why is this? Why does no one play Temur?

However, when we look at the Block Constructed, Temur is a really big deck.

I really do like Temur. Do you think it will be a playable deck when Theros falls?

I'm thinking it may be stronger after DTK. Using things l8ke Dragon Tempest and Assault of Dragons with a bunch of mana dorks and draw spells like Dig Through Time and the new Anticipate

And that one percent has been Brian Kibler haha

But on a serious note, the reason that it isn't played is that G/R Monsters or Midrange is essentially the same deck. The main differences being Savage Knuckleblade and Stubborn Denial usually.

It all comes down to a more painful and less consistent manabase for Temur. The splash doesn't make it as inherently powerful does as the third color does for a deck like Abzan. It seems most people agree that Knucks and Denial are not worth the trouble.

Depending on what DTK gives us, the Blue splash could be very worth it and make Temur much more viable.

The new removal spell Roast and Shaman of Forgotten Ways fill huge gaps in current Temur decks. Siege Rhino was just better than anything Temur was doing. It was hard to go over or under Abzan consistently. Control has been a minor player for most of Kahns but I expect that to change come Dragons and Temur rofl stomps it. I will be toying with the archetype after DTK is released.

So, the blue splash just doesn't make it... Hm... And it doesn't seem to be stronger than Abzan, basically...

I was thinking of the new card, Artak's Command. Put a land onto the battlefield, and makes your Savage able to kill a Rhino. That card will be really good I think!

Do you think, I should pick up the cards now? They costs nothing really right now.

I would wait for full spoilers, esp. if you are looking to pick up Atarka's Command because there are a lot of people who believe that it is underwhelming.

Wait, is Atarka's Command bad? I'm picking them up for my burn deck, and I thought I would use them in Standard too! :)

I'm just afraid of pricing suddenly going up really fast...

I heard AbsoluteMTG from youtube talk about picking up Surrak and Knuckleblade. Is he a reliable source?

Knuckleblade is a good pick up. Surrak is not going to be played most likely as there are way better options at 5 mana.

Atarka's Command should drop a lot as well.

OMG! That Temur Sharkan! Would that change anything?

PLaneswalkers are usually hard to evaluate, but I suspect that it will make more than a few people at least try and play Temur now. All aboard the hype train, except for you NorthernRaven you were talking about Temur before Sarkhan was spoiled

I've been thinking of using Temur for more of a tempo/control shell as I feel Knucks is better suited for that than aggro. The new Sarkhan seems well suited for any type of Temur though. It's just good: straight card advantage on a plus is great, and compare his -2 to the 4 cmc Sorin, Solemn Visitor.
