The state of G/B Constellation in Standard

I'm getting back into standard for a little bit so I have something to do on fridays at FNMs, I've just been going to trade and commission altars, stuff like that, I started making the G/B constellation deck for shits and giggles. How is the deck doing on the teir list right now?

I have a Golgari Constellation deck that I'm very happy with, but I'd say it's at most tier 2.

A straight constellation deck doesnt really do too well from my experience a constellation modrange mix could

I'm enjoying my BG constellation dredge deck. I'm taking it to a scg open on the 23rd, so that'll give me some idea I guess. It consistently does well at fnm. BG has a ton of utility creatures right now, so I think if you do it right a BG rock constellation deck could do well, especially with chords of calling and new garruk I think.

Judging by the PT currently being streamed.... B/W midrange seems like the deck to run. Constellation could be a possible thing post rotation, but I'm expecting the power level of Khans to kind of repave the way in the the Standard meta game.

It was looking like a fun deck to play post rotation, but Back to Nature killed it.

No one will play that main board. Maybe they'll have have one or two for side boarding, but Unravel the Aether is more popular.

Well, seeing that we lose so many creatures with RtR and the main reason to run unravel(mono blue) will be gone Back to Nature will be a strickt upgrade!

The way I'm using it right now it's almost a combination of constellation and mono black aggro, with Herald of Torment and Master of the Feast to push through the Strength from the Fallen damage.

Green devotion splash black and adding some enchantments seems quite powerful. You get lots of cards from Blossoms and lots of ramp from Nykthos/Nissa to play them, and Golgari Charm to survive Back to Nature should it ever show up. Surely not tier 1, but lots of sideboards won't even have Back to Nature. Who wants a card that kills your own Courser of Kruphix for the rare matchup with an enchantment-themed deck?

It's not as rare as u think, they have to have Golgari Charm in hand and wiping out an entire field for the price of a simple Courser is a trade I'd gladly make again and again.

Clearly it's unwise to go all-in on enchantments.

I play a lot of enchantments, but I also have some normal beaters and more in the sideboard.

I hate when people stress a weakness of a deck, Living End dies to Rest in Peace , Storm dies to Ethersworn Canonist and Eidolon of Rhetoric , etc. People know, if you play a deck and don't know every card that shuts it down, you're not giving it due diligence.

I second that beckhr.

anyway, I'm having a really hard time with enchantments. I play against a lot of equivalent 2nd tier modern decks in my casual gaming group so that may be part of the problem, but I've got what should be a really solid G/B enchantment deck based around Eidolon of Blossoms , Master of the Feast , and Herald of Torment and it just never wins... even against my more casual friends.

I personally really like the idea of an enchantment deck here but I don't know if it actually is worth it. The more I play test the idea, the more it just seems to loose.

I think Master of Feasts is a card you don't want. You want to win on card advantage and shutting them down. I would guess, 2-4 Brain Maggot, 4 Courser of Kruphix, 4 Eidolon of Blossoms, 1-2 Doomwake Giant to kill tokens, 1-2 Whip of Erebos to recur enchantments. The deal is you will get way more cards than everybody, but your cards will be worse. So that means your extra cards should be ones to remove their cards so you're the only one standing. , So non-enchantment cards, probably stuff like Thoughtseize, Abrupt Decay, Hero's Downfall would be the way to continue.

There's the attrition style of play, then there's the mono black aggro build that splashes for strength and blossoms to give it some late game reach without needing pack rat.
