As the title states I am considering getting back into standard. The problem is I have a very limited budget. I have a deck I was toying around with back when RtR first came out. Is W/U detain control a possibility? Does it stand a chance without Sphinx's Revelation . The deck I'm thinking about reworking is Guantanamo Bay. I'm not looking for deck help yet. I'm just trying to find out if this deck is a decent starting point. Thanks for looking.
Well if you just wanna start playing you could check out 2 of my budget decks that work quite well in my experience:
And
But from personal experience Sphinx's Revelation is not a "MUST RUN 4X ASAP" card, though shocklands are a different story.

Honestly, the max amount of revs I ran was 3, when I messed around with Geist Deck Wins, I ran 1. It's kind of a dead draw for the first couple turns. It's not a card you really want to have in your opening hand in my experience.

you dont need 4x sphinx's revelation. you could get away with 2, 3 is best. But theres always Opportunity

Thanks for the replies. I would have posted sooner but my phone wouldnt open T/O last night. I reworked the deck with cards I currently have (except the Hallowed Fountain ). There are still a few cards left in as filler until I find something better.

Honestly, probably not. Your running less of a control deck and more of a tempo deck, with the detain/counterspells used less to freeze your opponent up and more to allow your creatures through. I doubt it would do well against agrro or midrange, aggro because detain is a little too slow, midrange because I suspect that without Sphinx's Revelation you simply won't have enough card draw to keep up. You might be able to rush past control, but a Supreme Verdict almost certainly gives them enough time to set up and kill you, so maybe not.
All in all, I think you are better off with working from scratch rather than using this as the starting point.
