Trait Doctoring combo, maybe?

Exile Quicken on Elite Arcanist use that to give Trait Doctoring flash after you play Glare of Heresy or Peak Eruption . You can get rid of a land, creature, or artifact of any color while also drawing a card. What do you guys think?

It doesn't even work that way. You choose targets for a spell or ability when you put it onto the stack. You can't choose illegal targets, either. You'd need to cast Trait Doctoring , let it resolve, then cast Glare of Heresy or Peak Eruption .

Disregarding that, the "combo" is not a combo. It's an interaction, and the cards are too expensive and ineffective on their own.

@Epochalyptik Trait Doctoring also says "target permanent".

I thought activated abilities could be activated at any time? Trait doctoring goes on stack first (target is creature your exiling made white), activate arcanist's Quicken then cast heresy. Figure that's 4 mana which is same cost as arcanist. Your right that the way I wrote it up would have an illegal target but its an order of operations problem. concept seems fine.

Ok, I need to reread stuff too apparently. Glare of Heresy won't work regardless but Peak Eruption would.

There's no need to even include Quicken and Elite Arcanist .

You need Trait Doctoring to resolve before you can cast either destruction spell targeting the affected permanent. Otherwise, the target will still have its original characteristics.

Additionally, Trait Doctoring can't change the color of a permanent. It only changes color words and basic land types.

could you use Trait Doctoring to turn a Forest into a Mountain ? Forest is a basic land type and is printed in text in the upper left corner. But yeah original idea was garbage, sorry.

Trait Doctoring and Peak Eruption Interaction

Asked by Badhand 11 minutes ago

can I use Trait Doctoring to change a Forest "basic land-forest" into "basic land-mountain" and then hit the altered land with Peak Eruption .

rulings:9/15/2013 Peak Eruption can target any land with the subtype Mountain, not just those named Mountain. It cant target a land that doesnt have that subtype, even if the land can tap for R.

So I can use it to destroy Steam Vents which isn't named "mountain" but has the mountain subtype. can I do the same with the forest?

Raitaki says... Answer #1 The Forest basically becomes a basic Mountain that is named "Forest", so yes you can hit it with Peak EruptionMTG Card: Peak Eruption .
