Transformative Sideboard in Standard?

Standard forum

I'm looking for inspiration for my next deck, and I'm fascinated by the idea of a deck that can change it's strategy or color identity by using the sideboard.

Does anyone have some suggestions on where to start?

You could probably do U/W Control and have a sideboard that changes it into a beatdown deck with lots of weenies

Last standard me and my friend did WGB lifegain tokens that transformed into Varolz, the Scar-Striped + Wayfaring Temple or Crusader of Odric scavenge with Blood Artist Cartel Aristocrat shenanigans and Lingering Souls of coarse.

Last standard I had an Esper Control deck with a ton of creatures in the side to make it a beatdown deck. You could probably still do that.

Mono-Black Aggro and Mono-Black Devotion are both doing well in standard. You could probably combine those two archetypes.

I've been toying around with a Bant deck that can become either an aggro, midrange, or control deck depending on the matchup.

Using things like Gyre Sage , Hindervines , AEtherling , and some good card draw as the core, I can see the possibility of transforming between Bant - Turbo Fog Control and Simic - Evolve - Mid-Range.

Although it would make a surprise for your opponent, I think the real problem with this is that you would need all 15 cards to be swapped for it to work well... leaving you with no sideboard for cards needed to defeat their win-con.

I think infinitemana has the right idea, keeping it the same color means I don't have to mess with sideboarding lands, except for possibly taking some out.

Rayenous raises an exellent point though, the secondary strategy would have to be strong/different enough to deal with whatever they bring in to deal with my original comp.

I think lots of archetypes can do this well currently. I toyed with the idea in my G/W aggro list. The typical Lion/Smiter/Voice/Wurm G/W can pretty easily turn into a Hexproof deck with the addition of Witchstalker , Gladecover Scout , Ethereal Armor , etc. Fleecemane Lion , Unflinching Courage , Boon Satyr , and Voice all support that kind of a strategy. Alternatively, G/W can go all-in on flash post-board with Boon Satyr , Skylasher , Selesnya Charm , Advent of the Wurm , even Briarpack Alpha if you're truly brave.
