Turn 3 kill?

Standard forum

In my mind I can think of numerous Turn 4 kills in standard, whether it be combo or Red Deck Wins (RDW), however a Turn 3 kill is much more brutal. So, what Turn 3 kills can you think of in standard?

These kills I consider as having no opponent, you can be on the play or on the draw, and whatever god hand you need, it is there.

I'll be on the draw, just in case I need an extra card. In hand, 3 Monastery Swiftspears, 3 Wild Slash, and 1 Mountain.

T1:Draw a mountain for turn, play a swiftspear, swing for one, opponent at 19.

T2: Draw a mountain for turn, play two swiftspears, swing for three, opponent at 16.

T3: Draw a mountain, swing for three, Wild Slash three times, opponent at 10, three prowess triggers, get in for 12 damage, opponent goes to -2.

Anything else? I'm especially interested in something outside of RDW that can win on Turn 3, but I'll also appreciate any other sligh or RDW kills you can think of.

RW Heroic:

Turn 1 Favored Hoplite

Turn 2 Artful Maneuver swing

Turn 3 rebound + Titan's Strength + Temur Battle Rage swing

That sounds easily achievable, you did in 4 cards what took me 6.

The problem is having the mana available by turn 3. You would need a playset of Mana Confluence and a playset of Battlefield Forge to get this semi-consistently. 1W 2R is only consistent turn 3 if you had R/W fetchlands.

Turn 1: swiftspear, opponent at 19

Turn 2: 2x swiftspear, opponent at 16

Turn 3: 3x titan's strenght, opponent at -5

haha that would be brutal

Kroto, you just need a T1 Plains, then mountains/red sources from there out, it's not that hard.

Jeskai combo can.

Turn 1, Altar of brood or nothing

Turn 2, Sylvan

Turn 3, Jeskai Ascendancy, tap Caryatid for mana, play 0 cost artifact, loop with helix, or dig for brood with helix/item loop

T1: , cast Ornithopter and Monastery Swiftspear. Opp at 19

T2: , cast Ensoul Artifact. Prowess and swing. Opp at 12

T3: Cast Temur Battle Rage on thopter. Prowess and swing. Opp at 0(optional: play another and cast Wild Slash)

This one actually happened to me

Why don't you post 1 or 2 of your favorites here?

At GP Toronto, I managed to do this 3 times...

T1: Ornithopter (or other 1CMC) Artifact
T2: Ensoul Artifact, swing for 5.
T3: Titan's Strength, Temur Battle Rage, swing for 16.

Jeskai Ascendancy can win on turn 2 if it's on the draw, but that requires running Elvish Mystic and further straining the mana base.

SadisticMystic, how so? Chaining a bunch of zero drops together or something?

turn 1 - springleaf drum and ornithopter, tap for mystic (on the draw) 4 cards in hand.

Turn 2 - 5 cards in hand, then tap drum and thopter and two lands for ascendancy, leaving the mystic untapped. Cast any 0 cost non creature artifact for free, untapping mystic, tap mystic for another drum, untapping mystic, tap drum and thopter for retraction helix on the mystic, then proceed to generate infinite ascendancy triggers, bumping up the team... Swing :)

I mean untapping your thopter on that first trigger, not the mystic...

Yeah I got it, I had forgot about Springleaf Drum, for some reason I had imagined you just casting Jeskai Ascendancy off a T1 mystic + painland, which is actually impossible facpalm.

Turn 1: Sidisi's Faithful, Ornithopter, Ornithopter

Turn 2: Assault Formation, Swing for 8.

Turn 3: Swing, cast Triton Tactics, deal 14 damage (for a total of 22)

kameenook says... #18

Kalibroxin that sounds easy to do! Assault Formation in hand and everything gets out of hand quickly!

Kalibroxin says... #19

yup...and there are actually other combinations too.

Instead of Sidisi's Faithful, you could cast a Embodiment of Spring, still dealing 21 damage by T3.

You could cast Shape the Sands instead of Triton Tactics, still dealing 21 damage by T3.

You could cast two "pump" spells on turn three instead of casting the second Ornithopter, still dealing 22-24 damage by T3.

Check out my Simic Assault Formation! deck for the full build. It's fairly cheap and fun.
