Underworld Cerberus in Standard?

Standard forum

I have been looking at Underworld Cerberus in standard and I am looking for some kind of combo or synergy it brings to the table combined with other cards using it's ability from when it dies. I have thought about Pack Rat , to load up your graveyard prior to that happening (if it ever does), and also Sire Of Insanity looking for a benefit from loading up their hand with creatures, then making them discard them all. Just looking for some new options in standard with the release of theros. Please let me know what you think about this and if there are any new types of decks that this card could fit into. All comments are appreciated and welcome.

You may be able to brew up something Jundish with Lotleth Troll playing as a solid beatstick that you can get the cards back from.

problem is, the creatures return to your hand...so the only benefit from them for a Lotleth Troll would be to pump him more, but then if you overpump him, Selesnya Charm can ruin your day. I think Underworld Cerberus is in the same boat as Reaper of the Wilds , while great cards, they just do not have enough interaction in this standard yet to make them lethal. Maybe in the next set or two, we will get better interactions, for now they are average at best

I use Underworld Cerberus as means of reloading my hand. I play a very aggressive RB deck and if a large board wipe comes in, I can bring this out and start a new clock with a near unblockable 6 damage, then they have to choose between that or me bringing out 3 or 4 haste guys the next turn.

I agree it doesn't have a lot of synergy, but a RB 5-drop 6/6 that requires three blockers really isn't trying to make the team plays anyway. RB is swinging early and often, combos and that stuff is for the rest of the pie.

jund style with Grisly Salvage and Commune with the Gods ?

a lot of mana dorks to help power out a monster turn when he dies?

and of course Lotleth Troll

i use it as finesher in a midrange deck, 5 mana 6/6 that almost cant be blocked is really cool and replacing Desecration Demon (so expensive)

He COULD be good in a sideboard for Jund against Esper Control matchups, as he kind of has that Angel of Serenity clause thing: "Go ahead and kill me...but my friends will continue to fight the battle for me."

I just started testing Underworld Cerberus in my Jund midrange deck. I like it a lot. I run Xenagos, God of Revels so I can make Underworld Cerberus a 12/12 that can't be blocked except by 3 or more creatures. I wouldn't want to deal with that. I also like that he dodges Doom Blade , Ultimate Price and Mizzium Mortars I can live with him being Hero's Downfall ed and Dreadbore d.
