Its not suprising that they hit uro and not the newest cards in the format. However, I do not feel like it was even that relevant to the 4c omnath decks explosiveness.

Omnath Ramp is still going to be a problem. Cobra is still going to generate a ton of mana. Scute Swarm is still gonna do Scute Swarm things. If I had an Omnath build with Uro in it, I'm not sure I even really feel this banning with how good the deck is otherwise.
I do think we might see more Rogue Mill now because without Uro escaping, Omnath certainly plays weaker to a mill strategy.

Cobra is the more problematic card in Standard though. Turn 2 cobra is much scarier than turn 3 uro.

They need to ban fabled passage and the decks would be a lot less explosive

Is there cheap removal in the format? I’ve seen some YouTube videos of 4C Omnath and the deck seems pretty weak without a cobra. A turn 2 shock set the person I was watching back a good 2 turns. Omnath is still a problem, and generates some mana himself, but I think you’re in a good position if you can remove the early cobra.

Personally, I hate this ban. I think it's a knee-jerk reaction to a standard meta that's barely a week and a half old. Sure, in the proper build, Uro could be a massive issue, but Sultai, my favorite color combo, lost a ton of power from that ban.
They would've been better off going the Veil of Summer and Oko, Thief of Crowns route and just banning the problematic cards like Omnath and Lotus Cobra.
Uro wasn't just a cog in the 4-color Omnath machine, it was a fun card to brew around in standard. Sultai already got knocked down a few pegs with the rotation of Nissa, Hydroid Krasis, and Casualties of War, but now it's basically unplayable.

I'm for the ban but only because I want the card price to drop. Hoping for a pioneer and modern ban next.

Uro keeps coming back from the graveyard. That's on top of the above-average value he gives. I think the ban will help more than we think.
Also, pretty sure Landfall decks with Omnath were supposed to be good. Question is, do we have enough answers now? Do we have to warp our decklists for the Omnath match-up as much? I suppose time will tell. There may be more answers in the next sets of course.

Playing a 4c deck in a format with no good fetch lands seems like an adequate opportunity cost for a powerful deck. I'm not the biggest fan of standard but I'm glad it got the hammer. If it drops below 15 I can pick it up for pioneer.

I personally run Nissa of Shadowed Boughs in my omnath ramp deck, and honestly? After a day of testing, I hardly miss Uro. 4 fableds, 4 evolving wilds, 4 lotus cobra, and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove give more than enough mana fixing, to the point where i have never had to worry about what colors ive had past turn 4 ish. Running Escape to the Wilds doesn't fully make up for the card advantage lost from uro, but it definitely comes close. They should have banned the cobra or omnath instead, but they never would have since it might hurt sales of the new set

GenericToaster: I doubt that Wotc is worried about hurting sales by banning a new card, If a standard format becomes unfun to play they lose a ton more sales than one card from a new set banned.
Banning a card from a new set this early would only be a knee jerk reaction, there isn't enough data to make an educated choice yet. Sure in a couple of weeks maybe with the ammount of testing the hive mind does, but it is still to early. I guess I wouldn't rule out a knee jerk reaction though, there is a ton of (well earned) hate at ramp right now.

Flooremoji: Millions upon millions of games have already been played on arena. WOTC have all the data they need and a mountain more.

The thing that Uro did the most is scare away control decks. Even if you counter Uro you’ll still have to deal with it later due to the combination of having a draw ETB and escape. I feel a properly tuned UW control build should take down the 4c Omnath landfall decks. 4c adventures on the other hand...

Wow, if they are excuse is that "We wanted to wait till rotation to see if Uro would be bad" in a Landfall set, I do not think Wizards knows what they are doing anymore.
