U/W humans?

Is it possible to make a competitive human deck right now in Standard? I want to make something to compete with the other aggro out there, not as much control as you would expect from U/W, but a little bit still.

U/W humans is still a great deck. I used to play it with Geist of Saint Traft and Sublime Archangel as sort of an exalted humans

Yes, there are currently 2 humans deck that you'll commonly see running around even at the upper tournament levels. The Naya Blitz style deck looks to abuse Burning-Tree Emissary and all the cheap/aggressive one drops to flood the board quickly. The other Naya humans build is a little slower, but it survives better into the mid/late game with cards like Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip .

There used to be an UW Azureus Humans build that was run several months ago, but it's fallen out of favor with the addition of Gatecrash shocklands and other cards. The base of the list was Champion of the Parish , Knight of Glory , Lyev Skyknight , Silverblade Paladin , Sublime Archangel , Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and War Falcon

If I run Thalia in my build, would it be advised to stay away from the counters like dissipate and syncopate and really focus on creatures or can those still have a place?

You wouldn't really want to run those in human aggro anyways. Maybe in the sideboard but otherwise you want mostly just creatures.

As long as you're running fewer spells and more creatures than your opponent, then you aught to be ahead with thalia on the board. There are however 2 issues in general and right now in standard with running humans and counter magic.

The first is that humans decks are mostly countered by sweepers, and the most popular in standard right now is Supreme Verdict . Which usually means it's better to be pro-active and leave counter spells in the sideboard for the most part, because if you can't hit the worst spells being played against you than it's better to use those slots to attack the problem differently, see Thalia, Guardian of Thraben .

The other is that humans tend to work best in synergy which means playing out lots of them and not leaving a ton of mana open. While an aggro/control or tempo deck is perfectly viable, depending on format, they tend to center around a small number of specific and powerful threats, and the plan is to land on early and then protect it. So the two ideas run slightly counter to each other.
