Vampire deck viable?

I really want to make a vampire deck with either mono black or 2colors that can compete with the meta, any idea's/links? Are they even viable nowadays?

It's actually a possibility at the local tournament level. Stromkirk Captain and Vampire Nighthawk are quite powerful and they have an extremely efficient tribal pump spell in Vampiric Fury . There's even a good selection of 4-drop vampires in Bloodline Keeper  Flip , Olivia Voldaren , Falkenrath Aristocrat , and Vampire Nocturnus . However, with next to no efficient one- or two-drops beyond Stromkirk Noble , you're almost forced to lean more toward a midrange plan than an aggro one.

Browse the Vampires hub here for some ideas submitted by other community members.

@ Jimhawk, there is Blood Artist which can kind of be considered a decent two drop vamp, and if you pair him with Falkenrath Aristocrat , you can lethal your opponent by sacrificing your field.

It won't prey on the meta. If you are playing Vamps, it's because you want to play Vamps, not to prey on the meta.

To be fair, it will probably be strong against some decks, especially those light in removal.

True enough Gatecrashed, but I was thinking more along the lines of aggro two-drops like we had back in the days of Bloodghast , Gatekeeper of Malakir , and Vampire Hexmage . Blood Artist is certainly good for all the same reasons Kalastria Highborn was such a staple in the vampire decks of a couple of years ago and still fits nicely in an aggro shell for its reach.

Obviously vampires will not prey on the meta, which is why I said it works at a local level where not everyone runs optimal decks.

The Wizard believes now is an optimal time for the vampires to make an appearance in Standard. For the Wizards of the Coast kept making foolish vampire cards such as Bloodlord of Vaasgoth for is it useless in any conceivable scenario and foolish.
