The battlefield has no Siege Rhino , both these guys aren't playing Abzan right D:<

sylvannos says... #4

@Seraphicate: Yah I didn't like these decks either. I would have probably cut from my list:

-3x Forest
-2x Plains
-4x Windswept Heath
-4x Temple of Malady
-4x Sandsteppe Citadel
-2x Llanowar Wastes
-2x Caves of Koilos
-1x Mana Confluence
-1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
-1x Temple of Silence

...and added:

24x Siege Rhino

Here's the deck I'm playing this Friday for FNM:

He's not in the same standard format Thragtusk was. There is no Restoration Angel to break him. He probably won't break $10.

I wanted to Junk, but I sold my old RtR stuff and got RUG cards! Damn damn damn

I am 99% sure that it's Photoshopped.

There is still a small amount of doubt.

I'm still not afraid of Dr. Siegeman Rhinoceros.

But the deck as a whole is really scary. I recommend sideboarding 4x Glare of Heresy for the rest of the year.

Not playing white? Screw you then. : |

But no joke: 5 minutes into the first Abzan mirror and we had 4 Siege Rhino on the field, 2 from each side. It was pretty ridiculous especially when we could see when the rhinos were coming with Courser of Kruphix . One of Saporito's died, and a few turns later he got another one. He also had Whip of Erebos on the field.

slovakattack My apologies seems my app is slow to update prices. I dont know I feel like it shouldnt be that high because there will always be enough of them and Polukranos is almost just better. Just my opinion though

capriom85 says... #18

Will Siege Rhino actually got he way of Thragtusk and become a $2 rare when its itsnt standard anymore, though? I really don't see it doing much in other formats

October 13, 2014 1:16 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #19

Yeh it is pretty crap in any format thats not standard.

October 13, 2014 1:53 p.m.

slovakattack says... #20

It'd be awesome if it costed 3, or if it wasn't brutally color-prohibitive. The combination of both those factors tho makes it niche at -best-.

October 13, 2014 2:04 p.m.

Goody says... #21

It's not niche, unless you mean that it's Abzan. As a few people during the pro tour said, Siege Rhino is the reason you run these colors in the current format. And while Polukranos, World Eater may be bigger and has its monstrous ability, it doesn't do anything when it hits the field, which is obviously rhino's strength. Polukranos also needs to be supported (heavy green investment, also requires some ramp to be at its best); rhino is auto 4-of in any deck running GWB.

But yeah, it's a Standard card. It doesn't do enough for its cost in Modern.

I meant in Modern, sorry for being unclear.

sylvannos says... #24

I wouldn't be surprised if Siege Rhino hit $15+. He's an automatic four-of in one of the best decks in the format. Ju...err...Azban already has Elspeth, Sun's Champion , Courser of Kruphix , and Thoughtseize . This guy is just icing on the cake. Another case of a card printed by WotC that functions as both a way to stabilize and as a win condition.

I'm really glad (at this point) that I'm out of Standard for good unless I make an honest effort. I traded away all of my staples, including Siege Rhino , for Modern stuff. This is really a shameless plug for the format. Now is the cheapest it's ever been. Fetch lands are below $20. Shock lands just rotated. Voice of Resurgence , Sphinx's Revelation , Abrupt Decay , and (for Legacy, Vintage, and EDH) Deathrite Shaman are all at ridiculously low prices.

@williamgp99: It's photoshopped. You can see some of the Siege Rhino s don't have complete borders. The ones in Saporito's graveyard don't have borders. I forget where I saw the picture originally, but IIRC one of the pros at PT: KTK made the picture during one of his breaks.

October 14, 2014 1:03 p.m.

Seraphicate says... #25

Just makes me wonder, what are those lands doing on the board? They're taking up precious Siege Rhino space ... Every land slot in a deck, no matter how good a land functions in it, would do better with either Siege Rhino or a Storm Crow . Why can't people understand this D:

October 14, 2014 1:11 p.m.

At least Thragtusk costs 1WBG this time around. Thank god only one deck can play it and still have reasonable mana.

"theres no Restoration Angel to break him." yet.... DUN DUN DUN

October 14, 2014 9:20 p.m.

I mean, we still have a 3/4 flier that makes another creature if you have the tusked beast in play. Wingmate Roc + Siege Rhino for LYFE!

October 14, 2014 9:24 p.m.

TheRedDude says... #29

Just saying, exile/reenter schenanigans could possible be in flavor with time travel. I see the entire block flavor as a blink/flicker Set 1: initial creature Set 2: the time travel flickers set 1 Set 3: Set 1 comes back and ETB effects make it different then it was previously
