What do people think of U/B currently?

I'm not sure if U/B is viable at all. I was just interested in trying out Pain Seer and this seemed like the most interesting deck to run it in. Possibly there are actually better options, but I'm interested to see what people think about this decks matchups. From my first look at it, I think its decent against devotion and aggro, but may lose out to control.

Pain Seer actually probably won't be very good in that deck, because your mana curve is too high. You risk drawing something like AEtherling and taking 6 damage from Pain Seer , which makes it not worth the draw at all. If you want repeated card draw your best bet is Underworld Connections .

I don't love it in a straight up control deck, but I've got a Dimir Tempo deck that works decently with it. Nothing higher than 4 drops and plenty of Whip of Erebos is necessary, though.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about Pain Seer , just wanted to see what it was like. I agree that possibly this is the wrong deck for it, but I thought I'd see what people think. What do you think about the deck in general? Is it playable in current standard?

It's decent, but I think inferior to U/W because of Supreme Verdict , Sphinx's Revelation , and Elspeth, Sun's Champion .

That was my feeling as well. It seems good, but U/W has better board wipes and card draw. I don't know if Elspeth is necessarily better than this decks win cons against some things, but I agree that the other cards probably make this the worse option.

I am not a fan of U/B because wizards is forcing mill on it, like always. I'm not really a fan of mill as a primary win-con. The only mill card I see worth it is Jace, Memory Adept .

As such, I don't really like U/B unless it's with another color, or someone does something interesting with it. Or zombies.

But in the Standard of today, I think it's overshadowed by single-color strategies and better color combinations. I don't think it's particularly strong.

UB is kind of interesting as a version of black aggro with Rakdos Cackler , Pack Rat , Pain Seer , Herald of Torment , Siren of the Silent Song , and Nightveil Specter .

I'm really just looking at U/B control because I'm not interested in U/W, and I'd like to play a blue based control deck. This seemed like something interesting to try so I did and was just wondering what other people thought about it.

Play grixis. You have access to the best removal (Dreadbore , Hero's Downfall , Turn / Burn , Far / Away , counters (Counterflux , Dissolve , Izzet Charm ), and some of the best win cons. There are plenty of planeswalkers to choose from, but you could also opt for AEtherling , Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius , Desecration Demon or Master of Cruelties . Also you can include deathtouch staticaster (Izzet Staticaster + Gorgon's Head ) which is always funny.
