What's the deal with Dimir Charm?

Personally I don't like it, but lately I've been seeing a lot of esper decks on here using it. What's the reason? I'm rather interested.

It's versatile. Kill their scry, kill a little guy, or soft counter.

It kills Mutavault and Master of Waves easily while never being a dead card thanks to its card selection.

It can also let you setup the card you'll get when you get through with Nightveil Specter

I honestly love it. It can counter an early Thoughtseize or kill a variety of popular threats in standard: Nightveil Specter , Pack Rat , Master of Waves , Trostani, Selesnya's Voice , etc. Also, the mill aspect is really underrated, especially with all of the scry. Your opponent scrys, likes what he sees, and then you mill him and kill it. I've actually milled a Jace, Architect of Thought and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver with a single Dimir Charm and left him with a swamp. lol huge win.

Hm, I didn't think of the Master of Waves . I don't care a whole lot about the scry disrupter, but between the Master, Pack Rat and early Thoughtseize , in which esper hates them all dearly, it definitely has it's uses I suppose...

you're not supposed to think Dimir Charm is good. that's what makes it dimir. hard to understand at first look. i feel like the more dimir the deck the better it is. i have a casual deck with Duskmantle Seer and i like to use it to either make sure i don't lose too much life, or sometimes i set up my opp to die from it's trigger. much fun.

It kills Pack Rat , Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Mutavault , and Nightveil Specter out of MBD, and it nearly kills all of MUD, too.

For 2 mana.

It has other modes, I hear, too.

I love cards that kill Mutavault I love playing cards like Last Breath on modo so I can see the appeal of Dimir Charm . Scry disruption seems relevant. Thoughtseize hate, sign me up.

I just never play up against Mutavault s or Pack Rat s, and I have always just used something like Far / Away or Hero's Downfall for anything else. Which is why I guess I never used or thought of using it. I do see the appeal to it now though.

As much as I loved Far / Away when no one else did right after it came out, it's simply not as good right now. With so many copies of Mutavault running around, the "Away" half of the Fuse can easily be lost and you're almost better off not casting it sometimes.
