When to prepare for rotation?

I've been playing magic since a little before theros came out (but my first FNM and standard deck was post theros). This upcoming rotation will be my first real one, and currently I run a pretty regular azorius control deck. Some people say to begin around now, and some say later, around Journey Into Nyx time. I know that the consensus is that azorius control will most likely "die" with the loss of Detention Sphere , Supreme Verdict , etc. When should I begin preparing for rotation, and is it "too late" to purchase expensive cards for my azorius control deck that will be cycling out? Once again, I'm new and I'd love some help!
You still have 8 months before rotation. Your good for now. I'd say probably in September look at the Huey spoilers and see what you want to build for post rotation

The Return to Ravnica block will remain in standard until the first set of the next block, so you still have Born of the Gods, Journey Into Nyx, and M15. Most people I've seen, particularly competitive levels, will play standard legal cards until they are no longer available.

Alright thanks! Does this mean its okay for me to purchase about $45 dollars worth of ravnica cards to finish my deck?

Moved to Standard.
It doesn't really make sense to dump money into Standard without knowing what BNG will do to the meta.

Cards only rotate out an entire block at a time. That means that until the set after M15 comes out, your cards from Ravnica block will still be legal. After that point, however, the newest block will take its place and then Ravnica will rotate out. Note that a block is composed of three sets. For example, Theros is the first booster set in the newest block, therefore making it "Theros Block". In other words, your cards will still be legal for a long time.
