where can nightveil specter fit?

I started playing a few months ago and have seen the standard builds including stuff like thragtusk and restoration angel, but I feel like these cards aren't all that fun. They are effective at winning, but not so much in the entertainment department.
So when i saw Nightveil Specter and some of the other dimir cards I thought that gatecrashers was going to bring some fun standard plays into the mix, but was disappointed at people straying away from dimir and partially simic and heading for the sure things like boros and esper control shocklands.
So my question is can there be fun deck themes that involve messing with your oponent, but can still be competitive?
Create a deck around Nightveil Specter and Fiend of the Shadows with Chromatic Lantern . When you make it, post it here. I'm curious. Make it good!

I made deck:fiend-of-the-shadows-2 (link to my deck) not too long ago. I plan to squeeze in Nightveil Specter after release, probably in place of Bloodline Keeper Flip .

You should splash white for Gather the Townsfolk or Increasing Devotion so you have the regen sac outlet for Fiend of the Shadows

if you are going with Nightveil Specter you must include Realmwright

If one wants to run Fiend of the Shadows but stay B/U, there are many suitable B/U humans now with Dimir, plus Invisible Stalker which works great with cipher cards. I can see a really nice deck idea here, because exiling opponent's spells later is effectively like drawing another card and another option. It could be good.
Also try Cackling Counterpart for getting more specters out or copying fatties you cast from your opponent's deck.
I may try this deck idea actually, I'll see what I come up with!

I don't think Realmwright would be a good fit because it only adds a single type to your basic lands. You would need 4 on the field to produce the same amount of mana fixing that a single Chromatic Lantern would provide.
Cards like Vanishment , Griptide , and Grasp of Phantoms could be used to manipulate what card gets exiled with Nightveil Specter
Cackling Counterpart sounds like a good idea, too.
You can only cast the exiled spells while the Specter is on the field, so we need a way to push damage through while also protecting him from harm. I think this would be useful for that purpose:

Otherwise, cards like Ghostform , Artful Dodge , and Tricks of the Trade would have to be included and take up valuable real estate in the deck. Another option would be to splash green for Bower Passage , but Rancor won't help because we want to keep our Specter alive after it deals damage.
Nightveil Specter and Fiend of the Shadows both trigger when they deal combat damage to a player. Has anyone else thought about the implications of giving those creatures doublestrike? Just think if you gave Shimian Specter doublestrike...

juat another reason to splash white, toss in some silverblade paladins and go to work

Double Strike would definitely assist this. The only way to give them Double Strike would be with Silverblade Paladin , making this an Esper deck.
Going 3 colours could make Realmwright viable, as even having one in play means having 4 colours. Chromatic Lantern could be sideboard against decks that run both Red and Green.

i would just run Chromatic Lantern , why waste your time with Realmwright ? the lantern ramps and fixes your mana base so you don't need realmwright to change the types of your lands.

You don't necessarily have to have black lands. Use Realmwright to turn your lands to swamps and play Crypt Ghast for black mana while producing other types of mana

If Realmwright had higher toughness, then I would consider it. The only time I could see it being better than Chromatic Lantern is if you and your opponent have a color in common, and you use Realmwright to make up for the off-color. However, if you're running UB and your opponent is RG, the lantern wins.

meecht chromatic lantern is only better if you are playing an opponent using a three or more colour deck. Otherwise it will work fine, i see you have a mountain there, and now so do i, ooh a nice red spell ill play that, and so forth.

I see your point, but it shouldn't be relied upon to provide your only source of mana fixing. I could see it as a sideboard card for certain matches, though.

Ok, this actually took a while to figure out colors that this will work with and I am pretty sure it isn't at all what you probably expected, but considering the meta right now and such this is what I thought may work. I would very much like suggestions and ideas to make this work or other deck suggestions!
ok so here it goes! deck:unveil-nightveil

Im thinking card:Thespian's Stage would allow you to copy your opponents land, and with as commons as duel, shocks, and gates are, im sure you can find the other color or 2 if you need it.
The Doctor says... #2
control decks with multiple colors of land can take advantage of it because you'll be able to play most cards.
