Whip of Erebos + Rescue from the Underwold

So Whip of Erebos
is pretty much unearth target creature, and we get that now and we get to do some REALLY fun stuff with Obzedat, Ghost Council
and AEtherling
, buuuut, Rescue from the Underworld
.
Scenario: We Whip something into play, and then at the end of the turn, after we do what we can with that creature, we Rescue from the Underworld
sacrificing the creature that we Whipped this turn (hell if we ever get 9 mana, thats not the point), that creature is STILL exiled, but all costs have been paid. and Rescue from the Underworld
IS now a lingering effect.
Does Rescue still bring back the, now, exiled creature?
There is no specificity to it. It checks that sac'd creature, then returns it to play it doesn't say "from the graveyard", + the other dude we just Rescued that is "in your graveyard".
Does it work like this? Will it? There isn't a ruling, so lets get some heads together.
Lifeline
specifically checks and only returns them to play from the graveyard.
I want to say it doesn't work but, as for the wording I can only say that it does.
"Return that card and the sacrificed card to the battlefield under your control at the beginning of your next upkeep."
It doesn't say "return them from the graveyard to the battlefield." Then it also exiles Rescue from the Underworld
.
You see where I'm coming from here? I think its intentional.

The sacrificed unearthed creature 'will' return. This is from the Theros FAQ by Matt Tabak. http://community.wizards.com/forum/faqs-and-reference/threads/3928346
"Rescue from the Underworld"
....*"However, if the sacrificed creature is put into another public zone instead of the graveyard, perhaps because its your commander or because of another replacement effect, it will return to the battlefield from the zone it went to."
Rescue from the Underworld will "see" the unearthed creature go to the exiled zone instead of the graveyard, and so when the delayed trigger triggers it will look for the creature card in exile.

I must have missed that when I read over the FAQ. I'm guessing Gift of Immortality should work that way too then.

I guess so. so long as the "die" requirement is met first.

I'll probably use that for standard instead of trying to use Rescue, there are enough Sac outlets. I could probably use a 4 color reanimator, easily.

I found a nice little interaction with Gift of Immortality on a Gray Merchant of Asphodel with Abhorrent Overlord in play...or just on the Overlord itself and choose to sac himself during your upkeep. Might not be as awesome in constructed, but it can do some work in limited lol

Well.. here I was all worried I wouldn't be able to do standard reanimator. Looks like its all guud.

Questions like this should be asked in the Q&A.

Other cards that bring a creature back at end of turn, such as Lifeline fail if the creature is no longer is no longer there. It is safe to assume that this would work the same way.
