Why Gideon is one of the most underrated cards in standard

When they spoiled Gideon, Champion of Justice there was an almost audible sigh from the MTG community BUT I think I've figured out what its supposed to do in the white weenie archetype it slots into.
What I think is that it's not supposed to be a support spell for the deck like Ajani, Caller of the Pride is, rather it is the 4 drop curve topper. Essentially it comes down on turn 4, and at the bear minimum ends up with 5 loyalty on that turn, but in many scenarios it will go up to anything from 6 to 10 loyalty. After that, you now have a minimum 5/5 indestructible beat stick that by itself puts your opponent on a 4 turn clock. Yes it will lose loyalty if it gets attacked, but you also have all of your weenies including the gift from born of the gods Brimaz, King of Oreskos . So in essence I think this card is severely underrated, any comments would be great. Thanks for reading.

I'd still rather run Heliod, God of the Sun to give all my dudes vigilance, even if that's the only thing I get out of him. Archetype of Courage + Heliod, God of the Sun is pretty game breaking.

The problem with Gideon, Champion of Justice is that he doesn't really affect the board. Also, even in his uber-creature form, Good old Giddy can still be chump blocked by something like, oh i don't know . . . Soldiers from Elspeth, Sun's Champion . Not to mention Hero's Downfall is a thing, And he can do absolutely nothing if your on the back foot (Ultimate excluded).

How is Gideon, Champion of Justice + Vorel of the Hull Clade a combo? Vorel only doubles counters on artifacts, creatures, and lands.

InconspicuousPotato - Read Gideon very carefully. He becomes an indestructible CREATURE ;)

yea, the problem with Gideon is he becomes this powerful creature but can be blocked by Elspeth's 1/1 token. or Young Pyromancer 's. give him trample though, and he's a beast

The problem is that in the White Weenie decks, you try to avoid 4 drops at all cost, even the 3 drops do something on turn 3, such as Spear of Heliod , Ajani, Caller of the Pride , and Banisher Priest . He is a 4 drop that does nothing on turn 4, not something you want in a blitz deck. And to the dude who said that Archetype of Courage and Heliod, God of the Sun is a blowout, try Heliod and Frontline Medic on for size, lol.

The problem witht he argument that it is a 5/5 maybe 10/10 indestructible beatstick, is that it cannot block, cannot protect it's loyalty, if your opponent has a stronger board then you are screwed.

I don't think Gideon is best suited for a White Weenie deck or any other type of aggressive strategy. He's usually better in a control / Superfriends build where he can be the finisher and be supported by the other Planeswalkers, removal, boardwipes, etc. He's still not a great card but definitely cool and fun to play.

I personally like the combo Gideon, Champion of Justice + Vorel of the Hull Clade . It makes for fun blowouts in casual.
