Why is Exquisite Firecraft better than Fiery Impulse?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why Firecraft is worth so much more and used so commonly over Fiery Impulse? I personally feel Firecraft is overrated and costly for burn, with a sub-par sideboard-esque bonus effect. With Impulse you get another point of damage, making it a standard Lightning Bolt; granted you want your one-drops to be effective on turn one, I still feel its a better top-deck than a late-game Firecraft. Opinions?

Fiery Impulse cannot deal damage to players.

You can't burn faces with Impulse.

Exquisite Firecraft is a hundred times better than Fiery Impulse! A) Firecraft can burn faces. B) More damage. C) Can't be countered if you have spell mastery which is relevant especially games 2 and 3, for game 1, most of the time it's going to the face and 4 damage is no joke.

I think OP means CMC, not card price.

When I saw Exquisite Firecraft I knew that burn would be great, if only for a small window of time.

Think of all the burn spells that now do damage to your choice of Player or Creature.

Wild Slash
Lightning Strike
Exquisite Firecraft
Stoke the Flames
Crater's Claws

even

Sarkhan's Rage

It's a good time for setting things ablaze.
