Why is Kin-Tree Invocation so underrated?

To me, this card is absurd, a two mana card with the ability to pump out a really strong creature.
I just don't get why people don't use it, it always felt like a good card.
It has 0 value on its own. It's a win-more card in the sense that it becomes stronger the better off you are. In competitive settings, you want to strive for the greatest possible consistency in most cases. This card just doesn't offer that. Is it bad? No, not by any large margin anyways. However, it's likely never to be played in constructed.

There was about a week at my LGS where someone said Kin-Tree Invocation is INSANE in modern with Tarmogoyf. It lasted a week before he realized that it's super fragile.

Not to mention there's a lot of ways to interact with yards in Modern + the sorcery speed on this thing.

A neat trick would be T1: Disowned Ancestor T2: Kin-Tree Invocation as a 4/4.

If you think a card is underrated, then go make a deck and top 8 a tourney with it. That's how the value of cards drop or raise in the secondary market.

In standard right now with all the high toughness creatures, it could see some play. No way it sees play in Modern or Legacy. It has a spot in the Doran, the Seige Tower EDH deck

Decks that do things that are broken are fun to play, but the decks that win a lot are the ones that are consistent, your either going to have a cheap big creature or a dead card

One problem with this card is that it doesn't fit into any builds. sultai whip decks have few big creatures if any. abzan decks will give you something to work with but you won't get your 44 token till turn 4 or your 55till turn 5 and what would you take out to put it in.

Requires another good card to be good. Opens you up to 2 for 1's. The color combo has little room for instants and sorceries in it's current form.
