Will Phenax see standard play?

Got one the other night when playing sealed with my friend and was just wondering if anyone has an opinion on whether or not they'll see standard play?

It's not going to see serious competitive play, but I practically guarantee there's always that one person at FNM that forces mill.

I sure hope it will! Otherwise its price will keep dropping and I might not get as much for my Phenax, God of Deception Foil :(

By the way, any EU residents here looking for aforementioned card :> ?

Better expect it, though. If you go to a tournament thinking there will be no mill, then that one guy playing mill will be the guy that tears right through your unprepared deck.

I think it will as he will trigger the Inspired Mechanic which will help massively in those milling dimir decks. Such as my FNM one.

thepropa If you are hoping to make as much as you can on Phenax, God of Deception I would try to trade/sell him away as soon as possible. He won't see serious standard play, so his price will only keep dropping.

I dunno, I think its fun to try to build around him, but usually if you go mill, you have to go all out on it.

Like they said, there will probably be one person at every FNM trying to make it work, mostly just because everyone loves to play mill, no matter how good it is.

@Dalektable ... which is what I have been doing ever since I got him but so far no one wanted him (and I'm already below the cheapest price of sites like MagicCardMarket.eu) :(

thepropa It's a sad life. I would try a casual player out or try trading on the site surely someone would want him.

Might be because it's foil, too. Many don't want to pay 4 times the price to get a card that bends eventually.

Well, maybe you're lucky and a phenax/siren deck reaches a good rank, then you'll be happy that you've still got it. Or it becomes popular in modern, there's lots of tough cards like Tree of Redemption that open up quite some potential. I suddenly miss DRS... a lot.
