Would it be too weird for Bant Hexproof to mainboard Dispel? ... Or just crazy enough to work?

Reasons to run Dispel main: Everything but G/R Devotion runs Instants, Celestial Flare wrecks Bant's shit, and you have game-1 defense against countermagic, burn, and spot removal.
Discuss.
Unforgivn_II You can't counter Supreme Verdict ... Other than that, I would almost second the Swan Song over Dispel if you have a decent amount of removal in your deck. If you don't then Dispel is a good choice for protecting your creatures, I've run them in a few of my decks and always found them to perform well. However, Negate is another option too.

I'd agree with Swan Song . It's a little more relevant for the same price since you can hit gods and stuff but Dispel is a good option too. Especially if you want more than 4.

While I think the basic idea of why it's useful is solid, I think the problem is what it does to the deck's consistency.
Hexproof decks are already semi-inconsistent beasts that have to contend with mulliganing hands that don't have the required mix of auras, creatures and lands. Adding a potential dead card to that mix is likely going to force you out of more hands, or otherwise spent on resources that would be getting your suited voltron through, than it is going to win you games.
Game 1 your best defense is a strong consistent offense that forces them to have it and/or requires you to play around it, and then after sideboard you can bring in the silver bullets as needed.

Why not Swan Song instead? Surely a 2/2 Swan is much easier to deal with than your aforementioned Celestial Flare . While Dispel doesnt give a token to them, you can counter many more things like Supreme Verdict or Thassa, God of the Sea and such. So you won't have a dead card in your Game 1s
