So just looking at the Jorubai Murk Lurker yes hes not a bad lifelinker but compared to Xathrid Slyblade hexproof/first strike/deathtouch I feel like in control this card is ridiculous against mirror matches and stops the damage from happening in the first place? Maybe im wrong but i'd like to get someone elses opinion

Im going to have to say no on this one. Murk lurker is much better. a 2/4 for 3 that can have lifelink is more valuable than a 2/1 hexproof for 3. yes, it could become a 2/1 first strike/death touch, but it loses hexproof, and takes a considerably larger investment of mana, which could just leave you screwed by a removal spell. it is also notable that Drown in Sorrow does not kill murk lurker, but does kill slyblade

Jorubai Murk Lurker can give other creatures you control lifelink. This is very relevant with Pearl Lake Ancient or Prognostic Sphinx, a utility not offered by the low-impact Xathrid Slyblade.

hrmmmmm well both cards are something I havent seen used very much. But i like it when people mix it up. Id say Xathrid Slyblade is better for decks that don't have red and do damage primarily through beater creatures. and Murk is better for anything else. i dont particularly like either for Modern as i think they are too clunky for standard both are viable
