your "just almost there" cards

everybody has a card in standard that they immensely enjoy and WANT to play them but you know its just not gonna work out but you do know its JUST ALMOST THERE right on the border of playability and in your mind you thought up of hundreds of ways to tweak it just a little to nudge just right into standard worthy and I for one have a huge bucket list of those kinda cards
Gruul War Chant this thing just oozes playability for me and actually im working on a G/R blitz with this as its finisher
Bogbrew Witch and her combo cards I tried her for ages and she just didn't click right sigh its a shame to it was quite a hoot to play
Pontiff of Blight great wall amazing ability but that just isn't enough

It fits into my deck perfect.
My deck is about Golgari as Golgari can be that happens to have a +1/+1 counter theme.

I picture Scourge of Skola Vale as a green Cartel Aristocrat a sac engine that gets value out of your dyeing creatures just a shame you have to tap for it dough -_- It could of just said you could only activate it once per turn

Like, at least five months ago. A new guy upgraded his account, and had similar colors to him. B freaked out on the new guy and the new guy made a thread about it along the lines of "if this is how high ranked users treat others, I want no part of this community"

no matter what i try i feel like Master of Cruelties belongs on the list cus no matter what i try i can seem to make him work. it a great card when he out and you turn starts but it would have bin so much better if he had 5 thoughtness or 4Cmc.
nonetheless i keep trying cus i am convinced it has the potential. sadly also think that will be in the last month before he rotates out...

Gild - takes down Gods easy and can lead to a turn 5 Elspeth, Sun's Champion .
Steam Augury - I think control should run this. It's a great option as card advantage.
Colossal Whale - Whenever it attacks, exile a creature an opponent controls? Ramp into that guy MTG players!

That is awesome running Whelming Wave and Archaeomancer in the same deck. I did that back when Devastation Tide was still in standard. Best thing ever!

Master of Cruelties needs that RU scry land for Thassa making him unblockable.
Also, Rubblebelt Raiders are amazing, I played them in my Gruul Land destruction and am now playing in my Irindu build.
For me Polis Crusher is currently borderline but I've got more than a playset for when Ravnica rotates - after which I think he'll be amazing.

@SpaderAce my ears were burning so I thought I'd jump in and clear a few things up, here's a link to a thread describing the real story behind The Doctor, and how things really went down.

I didn't berate a new user, I asked him nicely multiple times if he would consider changing his username font color, when that approach didn't work we ended up having a verbal dispute, that conversation was made public in a forum post calling me out, out of context. I resolved the issue with the user and we left on amicable terms. Regardless of that fact, a number of user's came into the thread and decided to jump on the 'ol band wagon and get in some free 'cheap shots' against a user they had never interacted with prior, The Doctor was one of these users.
If you have a problem on the site with another user tell an admin, making threads to call out a user only leads to things like this, users who have no business talking trash to people they have never spoken with prior. Not to mention basing their entire TO persona around a sci-fi series that garners them free deck views and upvotes while they're free to troll around talking trash.

Back to the topic though...
Tymaret, the Murder King . Agent of the Fates would have been AMAZING as a 2/3 for 1B. I always wanted to make Pyrewild Shaman work in some kind of jund deck with Lotleth Troll . Also, I sometimes wonder if Mogis, God of Slaughter 's ability would have been better if it were a one-sided Killing Wave effect, but then if they don't have creatures it's just a dead card and giving it both abilities would be OP.
Oh, and I'm surprised no one's running Indestructibility along side Hero of Iroas .

While it isn't mainstream as far as I know, I have seen some sick builds running Agent of the Fates , especially alongside Hero of Iroas and Eidolon of Countless Battles . As a midrange deck, these decks always terrify me.

I totally forgot to mention Murder Investigation in Bant/Naya auras and Dying Wish in a self-mill deck with things like Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord , Nemesis of Mortals and Nighthowler .

Master of Cruelties BEGS to be played with. Him + any way to do direct life point damage/loss is HUGE as it doesn't matter what their current life point total is.
Still, a 1/4 for 5 mana that doesn't win the game on spot is obviously not "getting there" in standard. It's a shame too because he has some support cards like burn spells, Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Thassa, God of the Sea , etc. Combo doesn't work in Standard unfortunately

@Rayenous about Gift of Immortality do consider a deck with Ashen Rider , High Priest of Penance , Gift of Immortality , Sin Collector , Champion of Stray Souls and some sort of sac outlet Cartel Aristocrat as an example. I think you could do something with that idea.

Anywho, I noticed Prophet of Kruphix was mentioned, I main deck 3 of these things and I must say I feel like Prophet of Kruphix is there, hands down (lets ignore that 3 toughness haha). However, the DECK type that would run it is not. Sort of a shame. Personally I feel like Palisade Giant has so much to offer when cards like Indestructibility and Gift of Immortality are available, but that 6 cmc seems more expensive than W players are willing to play.

Wish this guy was more playable. I started Magic during M14 and this was the first card i fell in love with but it just dies to so many things. If it became a 4/5 or maybe a 3/3 with haste it would be good but alas :(

Really, you guys don't think Prophet of Kruphix isn't there? Man do I abuse this card. Also Kalonian Hydra , is amazing especially combined with Prophet. Flash it in, next turn swing for 8 trample. Since your playing Simic you can then play Zegana for a shit tonne of card advantage to flash more stuff in with Prophet.
Simic Player here, never discount these cards. I meta did this a quickly realised they better not do that.I've one FNMs with both Prophet and Kalonian Hydra, both are definitely there.
Oh gawd I want to make a mono white devotion deck to ramp into Palisade Giant now and throw indestructibility on him. :D
Need to splash green for hexproof as well, and then add blue as well for Ephara and... dammit I got to stop adding green blue to all my decks. :/
