Altering Card Names in Descriptions

I once saw mention of a possible feature where users could format a card name something like [Gary | Gray Merchant of Asphodel], and that would make the card name appear as "Gary," but it would still link the card.

I can't find anything on it. Did this ever happen? If so, what is the formatting for it?

You could just link Gray Merchant of Asphodel as Gary by using the link feature.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel is displayed as Gary by using "Gray Merchant of Asphodel|Gary" inside of double sqaure brackets.

You're close. The format is card|display, like this:

[[Gray Merchant of Asphodel|Gary]]

Gary

I don't think this information is listed on the formatting help page, yeaGO. It might be worth adding it.
