Australian 7 point highlander - format?

TappedOut forum

To the wonderful and talented admin who keep this website running and up to date:

I noticed the other day that Australian 7 point highlander isn't an available format to class your deck as on tappedout. So far, any lists I've encountered on this website have had to state in either the title or the description that it is an Australian highlander list. This makes it quite hard to compare lists and compound a knowledge for the format (decks won't show up in a search, and it makes it a hassle to make such a deck).

Would it be possible for someone to add "Australian 7-point highlander" as either a hub or a format please?

If there are any staff or senior members who have experience with the format, a primer would also be music to my ears.

I am quite aware that this is a pipeline dream and there are probably many other issues to address before this one. However, I just thought I'd make sure you were all aware that this actually is a thing and that people actually do play it.

I asked months ago for the application of the either a hub or format

I believe we need to draw popularity to the format before formally requesting it be added, I may consider writing up an article or something to try and popularise the format.

Please, I'd be extremely grateful if you could. If you have permission to add articles, I think that's a great solution. I think it'd be surprising how many people would take to the format as well. Look at tiny leaders after all ...

Never even heard of this format, and had not seen it pop-up once in untap at all. It'll be a while before it becomes accepted. In the mean time, foster knowledge by spreading it around on the online sites like untap, cockatrice, xmage, octgn and their ilk.

Also, mind giving a brief explanation of what it consists of? I would play it if it seems fun.

FAMOUSWATERMELON, I think it is a 60 card singleton format that has something to do with points. The points are based upon what's in the deck itself. For example, if a deck has a particular, powerful card, you get 1 point or something, and you're allowed a maximum of 7 points, in this case. This is just what I read from a long time ago, so I might be confusing it with something else.

...Wut? So basically sort of like Modern except you're only allowed a couple power cards?

It is basically singleton vintage, where power cards have a points value. So, Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus and Tinker are 4 points. Then the moxes (Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby etc.) are 3 points each, and so on. Cards like T-cruise and jace the mind sculptor are 1 point each (in addition to these, there are other point restrictions on other cards. These are to name but a few). There is a maximum of seven points.

If you follow this link: Australian 7 point highlander (rules and point allocations). you can read a full version of the rules.

I would be willing to play with anyone on untap in the format, if you decided to take up the challenge FAMOUSWATERMELON.

Fun :) Still working on something else, but this seems like a challenge.

Its engaging, And as it isn't popular yet there isn't a particular way to netdeck.

Sounds more like a popularity contest or rather who owns the most expensive things wins. Have i missed something?

I think you missed the bit where you try playing it first ... :)

In all seriousness, whilst it may sound a bit like a rehashed vintage money game, it is quite a challenge to build and play. Because of the way the point allocation works, you can't just fill it up with all the best cards legal in the format. You have to decide whether it really is worth the penalty. Also, if netdecking becomes viable people without the resources can simply play online.
