Card Hosting + Bandwith?

Hey! So as you quite possibly know, untap.in is launching V2 soon, but their resource for card images (magiccards.info) has been having problems recently. I was wondering how much bandwith it would take for them to pull images from T/O, and whether or not they could do it (legally)?

I see two issues:
our database fails daily in one way or another
users are not responsible when it comes to maintaining a database. How we've gotten this far is mostly through the extreme effort of a group of hard core dedicated people

Yes, but you can upload images from wherever to imgur. So you can really use images from basically any site.

there are legal implications. the most obvious thing they could have used was mtgimage but that project was recently shut down by wizards.
what problems were they running into with magiccards.info?

Can't untap just make their own database. I wouldn't be particalarly to write a web crawler to grab all of the data off of gatherer.

I actually have contact with the devs who work on untap, and am thinking of working on their database myself. I will probably get really started on it after I finish a few things here first. Also, our images are too small to use for untap, as they require pretty large sized images. Anything taken from here would be too blurry there.
I did just check out magiccards.info and it seems that the images are giving 403 forbidden errors, which kinda worries me. I'll give a shout to cokeeffect and a few others to see if they need me for anything.
lordoftheshadows, untap requires MUCH larger resolution images. Gatherer just won't do.

There is actually no need to take images from here. I just remembered I found another source for scans.

But he doesn't like deckmaster ... luckily I found some archives from other sites he can use.
Anyways, soon the images will be fixed.
If imgur crashes, you know why.

But they don't need magiccards.info for V2. Users can implement the cards themselves. The entire BFZ is already on there.
