Card Price on Hover Card Previews
TappedOut forum

So I just noticed these today and dislike them. It's ugly, completely unnecessary, and just feels lazy. I come to Tapped Out to build decks not buy cards. It's really not that hard to open a new tab to TCGPlayer.com on your browser and check the price of a single. I know it's a brand new feature but can we get rid of it?
I personally like the option but maybe if thee was a toggle option, that could work too.

Meh I have to zoom in to read cards on my mobile now. It's astehetically unappealing and redundant. The resources for checking card/deck prices are already available, do we really have to spoon feed newbs?

I like the idea and I'm glad it was implemented, but agree it could be more aestetic.

It's not spoon feeding newbs Rasta_Viking29, it likely exists there for exactly the same purpose as mousing over to see a cards image, to show you something about the card you wanted to see. I like the feature honestly but yes, it could be a little bit less bare bones. Whoever implemented the idea, I thank them.

I think that it's a good idea. yes its true that you could easily look them up separately, its nice that its conveniently there. yes its technically unnecessary but so is having mana curve chart next to your deck. its not needed but its nice to have.

Great resource. Cumulatively, I have spent hours over the years looking at a card, and switching tabs to type in and search for it on TCG. I can now load a playlist of all cards i'm watching and track them easily.
Thanks for implementing! You guys are awesome.

I can't seem to look at any cards anymore while hovering... What happened? It just says MTG Card: and blackness...

aholder7 that makes little sense. People use T/O to organize/store their decks and the data it provides on those decks. If this site didn't provide me with charts and graphs that update automatically for my decklist I wouldn't use it. Sure I could generate that information myself but it would be tedious and time consuming when making changes. T/O is providing a product that many find extremely helpful.
Showing me card prices is not even close to being the same. I still have to go elsewhere to purchase said cards and the data provided is not relevant. I don't pay TCG mid for my cards. I either buy at TCG low, Ebay, or at SCG prices. Most international players do not buy from TCGPlayer either.
BlueEyesRedMage the purpose of the hover preview is to be able to read the text of a card without having to leave the deck page or conversation it pertains to thus increasing the functionality of the site. Card price is not something that is usually relevant and can be obtained from a better source. Showing the card price does make me take extra steps in order to find the relevant information.
I fully expect to be in the minority on this one but believe my gripe is a legitimate one.

I legitimately do not see your problem with it. All if does is provide extra information at no cost why would you get rid of something that is just pure value.

EmblemMan it makes the card text unreadable on my mobile device. I have to zoom to read it and zooming on the T/O mobile site is awful with the header. The information is useless to me so it ends up a deterrent to my use of the site.
Look how poorly it appears in this thread in the opening post.

Pics or it didn't happen.
I don't experience any issues with image sizes. It's literally the exact same as it was before, save for a think black bar at the bottom with some numbers. No difficulty reading, no sizing issues, nothing.

I am doing this on my mobile device and i dont have to zoom in to the card the cards are the same size the bottom border with the price is just added on. And i dont understand what im supposed to be looking at in that thread.

I like the prices being on the cards. Beats scouring tcgplayer or star city for prices for when i might want to get more copies of a certain card.
April 29, 2015 2:17 p.m.
I'm normally just on mobile, and I have yet to encounter a problem. except that certain backgrounds didn't load...
Nothing with cards

in your example the issue happened when I checked, the issue happened, but i'm on pc, so it's not a mobile only thing. It might be that the example is being used in original thread post.
Why that's an issue, I have no idea. (also sorry for the double post)

Meh if I'm the only one having issues then fuck it. I'll just stop linking cards get the information I need elsewhere.

Linking cards is a process that benefits everyone.
If you're having a legitimate display issue, give us more information so we can address it.
If you want the feature changed, though, you'll need to provide a more convincing reason than that you simply don't like it.

I don't have any resolution issues on mobile. screenshot below. I think the change is very good, and definitely warranted.
this looks like a user error on behalf of Rasta_Viking29

It's a great idea! I can now see how many years I'll be in debt after I buy the deck XD

Also, sorry to double post, but I feel like now that this is a thing, being able to post a certain version of the card is obligatory. Not in decks, but in comments.

ducttapedeckbox says... #25
You can do that, FAMOUSWATERMELON. Put the 3 letter code in parenthesis at the end of the card name inside double brackets. Geist of saint tract (000) in double brackets gives Geist of Saint Traft opposed to Geist of Saint Traft.

Looking at that though, I don't know that it's linked to individual printing prices yet.

Oh wow, I feel like an idiot. Was that changed recently? Because I can remember it not working in my deck description around two or three weeks ago. Anyhow, ignore that comment :)

people want to eyeball the price of cards and stuff easily...
launched a small fix on the font size to make it more pleasing.
I'd like to see some screenshots that's for sure. I thought it was a pretty minimal addition.

I think that it has been around for a while, FAMOUSWATERMELON :P
Font looks good on mobile Chrome browser on Nexus 5; card images are clear and the price is unobtrusive.
I think a toggle on/off for both MTGO and TCG would be useful for those that don't play in paper/online or just don't want to see the prices.
Epochalyptik says... #2
The information may not be relevant to everyone, but it doesn't take up much extra space, and it can help newer and budget-limited players understand card values and adjust their choices accordingly.
