I found several old threads talking about clearing all comments with a checkbox in the deck update, but I cannot find any such box. Is it still a feature?

Yes. The updates are listed below your deck's description. Click the green "Add" button to create a new update. You'll be asked while creating the update whether you want to hide all old comments.
