Containment Priest Legality

Containment Priest's page says it's legal in Legacy (because it is), but a deck including the card says it's not legal in the format.

Okay that's really weird. So what in the database actually determines legality, if not the card's listed legal formats? Are the cards in the decklist run up against multiple filters at once, basically resulting in a big "OR" check?

Card legality is inherited by set legality, and there's a check to make sure it isn't explicitly defined as banned in a format. Thing is, sets have to be created and applied to relevant formats. If you miss a format, you get legality errors.

How long does it take a fix like that to propagate? I'm still getting a great big "nope" on legality when I save the deck with Priest.

Wait a day or so and report back. It's usually not instantaneous.

Okay, I just didn't know if it pointed at some larger underlying problem that needed attention.

Still borked. If I remove Priest and edit in another legal card, it's fine. If I then return Priest to the deck it flags the card and auto-marks the deck as Prototype.

I'll check on this again by the end of the day and get back to you.

Probably just a glitch. Try submitting a fix...
Just for future reference, gatherer.wizards.com has all executive rulings and legalities.
