Custom names, who does them?

TappedOut forum

I see peoples names on here all the time that have been tweaked with a haze around them or have split colors between top and bottom. But who does them that way or knows the way to do this? I am interested.

Its a feature for premium users.

To become one, you've gotta donate some money.

MisterRoach says... #3

It also requires a 5th level sorcerer. :P

May 2, 2013 2 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #4

I have already done so, and I know how to adjust the color of my name, hence the white name instead of the blue for an unpaid user. There are those who have theirs tweaked even farther than just solid colors. That is the information I am after

vampirelazarus says... #7

I thought your name looked different.....

May 2, 2013 2:04 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #8

Okay, that I can do. Do I need to use the html code I find on each individual letter, or just the first and the last or what tho?

May 2, 2013 2:04 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #9

Its all good vampirelazarus, lol

May 2, 2013 2:05 a.m.

MisterRoach says... #10

Just need to do it in the first box

May 2, 2013 2:06 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #11

May 2, 2013 2:07 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #12

Now where the code says, your text here. I would assume I leave that blank since its already there?

May 2, 2013 2:21 a.m.

MisterRoach says... #13

May 2, 2013 2:28 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #14

Okay, cool

May 2, 2013 2:28 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #15

Do I have to use CSS or is it possible with just html? I want basically what you have except with black letters and a white aura around it

May 2, 2013 2:32 a.m.

DukeNicky says... #16

How's about using a different style of font? I've seen that on here before...

May 2, 2013 4:12 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #17

I figured out the shadows, but as far as font in not sure

May 2, 2013 4:20 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #18

Well, at least it shows up on my page username, not sure why it doesn't when I post

May 2, 2013 4:22 a.m.

DukeNicky says... #19

try refreshing? lol I dunno How'd you get that effect on your profile at least ShadowLand? I tried google...meh lol

May 2, 2013 4:24 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #20

color;text-shadow:#colorofshadow 0px 0px 10px; font-family:desiredfont;

the "desiredfont" would be where you edit the font

May 2, 2013 4:27 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #21

Is that how YOU see my name when I post? How is when you tagged me?

May 2, 2013 4:28 a.m.

MisterRoach says... #22

it shows up like hat on your profile but not when you post

May 2, 2013 4:30 a.m.

DukeNicky says... #23

Well crap I got the font I wanted, but can't seem to get the shadowing...oh well i guess. As for why your name changed worked with the link and on your profile, but not when you posted idk try posting on something you haven't before? like a deck of mine and we can see? lol

May 2, 2013 4:35 a.m.

DukeNicky says... #24

Hooray I got it to work lol perhaps there is an over all server update that has to happen prior to seeing the change take place?

May 2, 2013 4:38 a.m.

Schuesseled says... #25

Your name appears black with a cool whitish haze, i want one, but none of the above made any sense to me.

May 2, 2013 8:14 a.m.

Schuesseled says... #26

Nevermind, i think i got it all figured out!

May 2, 2013 8:25 a.m.

gufymike says... #27

Thanks for this thread ShadowLand

May 2, 2013 8:56 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #28

Not a problem! Now everyone can have awesome looking names!

May 2, 2013 9:05 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #29

Also, it was pretty simple once myself and a buddy figured out how the site CSS coding worked, from there it was just figuring out the html to layer on top of it!

May 2, 2013 9:07 a.m.

acbooster says... #30

Yeah none of it is making any sense to me whatsoever. :|

May 2, 2013 4:55 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #31

Did you see the post I put with the input format?

May 2, 2013 5 p.m.

acbooster says... #32

I did, but I know nothing about formatting.

May 2, 2013 5:08 p.m.

acbooster says... #33

Wait hold on, my tired brain just figured it out...I think.

May 2, 2013 5:09 p.m.

DukeNicky says... #34

acbooster you can find the full hexadecimal colour chart here and on page 1 ShadowLand did post the format you need. I personally have set up shadow purple with gold shadows in Edwardian Script itc font. I just can't make it a lil bigger apparently, but oh well not important :p I'm sure it is still legible

May 2, 2013 5:09 p.m.

acbooster says... #35

Yep I got it. I've been cramming for college-level tests I have next week (I'm a Sophmore in high school) so my brain hasn't been making very good choices on what I should be able to figure out and what I shouldn't be able to.

May 2, 2013 5:13 p.m.

acbooster says... #36

And it's done. I did a blue to orange gradient for the shadow, to match the cyan to red gradient of my username.

May 2, 2013 5:18 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #37

Good deal, glad you got it figured out!

May 2, 2013 6:03 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #38

I should probably do another thread with a full walkthrough example of how to do it. I know a lot of people aren't very tech savvy. Thoughts?

May 2, 2013 6:07 p.m.

DukeNicky says... #39

Tech savy or no isn't really an issue it just not many people have an understanding of CSS or html. I think that would be a good idea, if you feel like it/have the time to lol

May 2, 2013 6:11 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #40

Okay, I should have time tonight, if not, I will def get to it over the weekend.

May 2, 2013 6:14 p.m.

acbooster says... #41

Also, DukeNicky, your username is mostly legible, though the shadow makes it very hard to decipher.

May 2, 2013 6:28 p.m.

DukeNicky says... #42

Ahthanks for the input acbooster I'll think of different colour combos than...btw How did you get that "colour-slide" like effect for your name?

May 2, 2013 6:31 p.m.

acbooster says... #43

I used an HTML color gradient generator to spit out the codes for it.

http://www.strangeplanet.fr/work/gradient-generator/index.php

Put in the start color and the end color and set the number of steps and it'll give you the codes for each step.

May 2, 2013 6:35 p.m.

DukeNicky says... #44

Neat, thanks :)

May 2, 2013 6:37 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #45

I think if you just changed to a slightly darker color purple DukeNicky, that it would show up a lot better

May 2, 2013 6:48 p.m.

CrimsonKing says... #46

Awesome thread. Where's the up vote button?

May 2, 2013 9:47 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #47

That thread needs to be started! I would love to have the ability to up vote threads.

May 2, 2013 10:25 p.m.

SandyDufresne says... #48

Where exactly do you put the formatting from comment #19? Do you put it in each of the boxes on the customize page?

May 2, 2013 10:30 p.m.

acbooster says... #49

If you want a different shadow color for every letter, yes. Otherwise I think just putting it in the first one will set them all to that, like with name colors.

May 2, 2013 10:38 p.m.

ShadowLand says... #50

Just in the first box
