Customizing Usernames and Changing Names
TappedOut forum

When you get upgraded you can change your username color. But I was wondering about changing your username. Is it when you get to the top 100, or when you upgrade, or when you are upgraded and in the top 100?
I'm also wondering whether it would be worth it to upgrade. My parents aren't supportive, so I can't use a credit card or such, and I wouldn't know how to send in the money or something.

For me it was worth it to update, 3x deckcycle per day helped me get some views, as did the tokens you receive on upgrade also. I am also always looking at things on T/O, so I wanted to support the team!

To buy an upgrade, all you have to do is buy yourself a small pre-paid visa.
I'm also almost finished the username portion of my customization tutorial, but it'll probably be done about a week after exams.

Look at Femme being all responsible.
Anyways, I thought you could always change your username to a different one whenever.
But I've been in the top 100 so long I don't remember.

I imagined an imaginary "lol" at the beginning there.

WOAH.
Did I just like, overwrite vampirelazarus's post by putting the exact same thing down?

SOOOO ...
yeaGO? There's a dilemma here. You can completely erase the previous comment by placing one of your own that is exactly identical to it.

yeaGO, basically, what I did was post the exact same thing that VL did, and I replaced her comment. Twice, both in #9 and #11.
This also explains that for some reason when I post the same comment twice in a row, the second one never appears. I think it's because my comments erase the previous person's? This doesn't seem to work with Prima's post though.

Maybe becuz I'm not upgraded, or some other reason... We may never know!

Let me get a screen shot real quick. In 5mins, Femme_Fatale can replace this post as hers. The screenshot will show that it was originally mine.

VL not confirmed a girl ThisIsBullshit, I just call her one :p
I also have this weird tenancy to assume that some people are a girl online even when they are not. It's really bad in chat rooms.

I call myself a prima, not only the spanish word for Female cousin, but also the spanish word for Pimal. Even though I'm a guy, just think of me as your primal female cousin.

After I upgrade, how long until I can actually use the benefits? Just upgraded and can't do anything new.

Upgraded is permanent, and is the best thing you can do as you become a much more noticeable member of the community when you change your username.
However this has changed over the past few years, lots of people are colouring their usernames so it isn't that easy to be visible. Once you've finished changing your username, you have to become active in the community for people to recognize you.

I feel like I am a pretty active member. If I hadn't taken a 5-month break back in the summer, I'd probably be in the top 100, which is a huge goal of mine.
I broke tappedout, lol.
How it truly looks..... The code has deceived me for so long.....

I ask because it doesn't let me change anything since I've become a contributing member, like changing color of name, etc. On my settings, it does not recognize that I am a member. I reached out to some link for support, but have not heard back.

Because there is no indication that you are a member Jake1515. No where on the site will it say that "you are a contributing member". If you wish to figure out how to customize your username, go here:

Even if the option for "customize username" or "change username" button is not in effect for my account? It literally doesnt let me select those icons. I am just wondering if there is a period between upgrading my account and using its benefits because clearly i don't have access to them.
Sorry if I've been unclear up to this point and thank you so much femmefatale for making the effort here.

It's when you upgrade that you can change your username.
