Deck Changelog

Is there a way to set up a proper deck changelog? I know there is the "see all changes" link but usually I just get a 404 error. I'm currently using the updates section but it gets a bit out of control size wise (I like to put resoning for swapping cards in and out, if nothing more than to just jog my memory why I did something). I've tried setting up some custom code to have an expandable section in the deck description but had no success with that.

Thoughts / Comments?

Updates are currently the best way to accomplish what you're trying to accomplish.

Would there be value in a dedicated changelog system?

I could see merits in it. If someone was researching for a deck they can look at changes they've already made so that if they need to backpedal they don't have to remeber what card they ran 2 months ago.

Also IF others looked at it, it could avoid someone suggesting a card that was already cut and why it was cut.

I'm sure there are more but those were the main two that came right to mind

Even if there was a way of getting collapsible/expandable sections working. I tried using some standard HTML code from w3 schools but had no luck with it.

hmm hmm hmm

you're talking about two different things here.

changelog is minutia edits. updates are, you know, anything. kind of a blog for your deck. i'm trying to isolate what to do in this case. help?

How about a sort of "snap-shot" feature?

Just before you make major changes to a deck, you could make a "snap-shot",.. label it, and 'describe' it.

Later, while viewing the deck, you could "view" or "revert to" a previous "snap-shot". This could be very useful for making major changes to a deck, so that you won't forget why previous changes were made in the first place...

Currently, I have to make multiple altered versions of the same deck to do this. - With this feature, you could try out 2... 3... 5... 10, etc. variations of the same without having to start from scratch.

Would also let you make "side boarded" versions of the same deck, so you can view and play test with specific sideboard setups.

I was basically invisaging a section which contained a panel for cards added, a panel for cards removed and a panel for filling in the description. Then on the actual deck page there are sections similar to the updates but with the data displayed for each of the aforementioned per update. Then the idea was that all of these as a group could be expanded or collapsed and could sit between the description and the updates. Im presuming the whole deck is stored as a big xml file so this shouldnt be too hard to achieve data storage wise.

Hopefully this adds a bit of clarity.

but would you create the cards added and cards removed or would you rely on the current system that autodetects that?

I would probably have it as manual entry. That way you could group multiple changes in one entry or split it up as much as you want. It also makes adding entries easier.
