Deck Hubs idea

Under the deck hubs I think it could be cool if there was another tab you could click on that would be block related. Like: Ice Age; Rath Cycle or Tempest Block; Urza Block; Masques Block; Invasion Block; Onslaught; Ravenica;
Then there could be subhubs like, Alara having: Bant; Esper; Grixis; Jund; Naya; The places like Ravnica could have: Boros; Golgari; Selesnya; Dimir; Ice Age could have: Lim-Dul; Balduvian; Order of the Ebon Hand Snow Goblins;
It was just a random idea that I thought could be pretty useful and potentially really cool.

metalmagic I know that, that is kinda where I got the idea from. The other part of the idea was when I was selecting hubs for my Ice Age Block deck and I wanted there to be an Ice Age specific Hub for U/B/R dealing with undead, reanimation, and loss of life, and I didn't want to call it "Grixis (U/B/R)" plus seeing the "Innistrad Vampires" - "Innistrad Zombies" which is completely different from 'normal' Vampires or Zombies.
All three of those things came to mind the strongest desire though being able to have 'Block' Hubs so you wouldn't have to explain in the description of every deck that you construct to a specific Block. I have friends that have decks built to certain Blocks like The Dark that don't want to use the deck anywhere else but in Block format.

Hubs are up for serious review so anyone please, pile on with suggestions.
Minous I like the input. By block.

Ah, I see. So you're saying something like...
Ice Age Block
- Gruul
- Azorius
- Bant
- Esper
- Zombies
- Vampires
- Etc....
Invasion Block
- Gruul
- Azorius
- Bant
- Esper
- Zombies
- Vampires
- Etc....
And just be able to break it down and make it super specific for what you want?

Bant in Ice Age? Seems weird. is WGB always 'Bant'? Is 'Bant'

Well, WGB is more Rock than anything. WGU is Bant, however. Just the named assigned to the color combination, not that it plays like Mythic Bant Conscription or anything.

ide sugest each hub to have somekind of sticky to explain some well known key cards in the hub, explain the coler combination etc etc..idk just an idea

I guess I'm having trouble thinking of a way to organize all hubs. Some are card based, some are block based, some are color based.

metalmagic Kinda, but it would be more like:
Ice Age:
Lim-Dul
Balduvian
Soldevi
Kjeldor
Ice Age Goblins
.................................................
Alara:
Bant
Esper
Grixis
Jund
Naya;
.................................................
Ravnica:
Boros
Golgari
Selesnya
Dimir
..................................................
Mirrodin:
Oxidda
Tangle
Mephidross
Quicksilver Sea
Razor Fields
...................................................
Scars of Mirrodin:
Phyrexia
Mirran
..................................................
Innistrad:
Stensia(B/R, vampires)
Sorin(W/B)
Skirsdag/Griselbrand(B/R, non-vampire)
Gavony/Cathar(W/R)
Nephalia/Seagraf/Ghoulchanters(U/B, zombies)
Kessig(R/G, werewolves)
Mooreland(W/B, humans/spirits)
Avacyn(W/G)
..................................................
yeaGO! I've noticed though that those that are color based originated with certain blocks. I.e, if I make a Hellrider and Spirits deck just because it's Red and White, that doesn't make it Boros. Like my other example my Black, Blue, & Red Ice Age deck is not Grixis.
"Bant" like "Jund" are both from Alara block, as is "Esper" "Grixis" "Naya".
Then Hubs that are based on cards such as Tempered Steel could just be in the 'general' category.
Ravnica's are listed here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravnica:_City_of_Guilds
Alara's here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shards_of_Alara
and Zendikar's here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zendikar
It might be a pain in the ass to make and if it is too much hassle I would understand.

The point of the "Boros", "Grixis", etc. labels is not to describe which block and subtheme the deck was built on. They're there to be a commonly understood way to note the colors the deck is made from. So yes, your W/R deck is a "Boros" deck, and your U/B/R deck is "Grixis". If you keep up with Magic tournament news and the common way people discuss decks with each other, these "Guild" and "Shard" labels have been used in this broader way for many years. That usage is now part of the common Magic vocabulary, just as much as "mill" or "ping".

Avacyn (innistrad) and Selesnya (ravnica) are both WG. So... which is it?

He's not suggesting color hubs, he's suggesting block theme hubs.
March 30, 2012 2:59 p.m.
But people use 'Bant' to mean any tri-color of that combo, not just Alara.

Yeah, that's what I was saying in my earlier post. In my opinion, that level of specificity isn't worth constructing.

K, so I'm really confused as to what would really solve this problem.

It was a fleeting thought. 'Cause I'd never call my U/B/R Ice Age deck Grixis...
Though I still think there should be a hub for each Block not in Standard.
March 30, 2012 3:21 p.m.
I think people tend to call anything since Alara Bant. The names seem to have stuck for some.
March 30, 2012 3:23 p.m.
What about a hub like Elves, which could really be in any block?
Or Vampires, which could be Innistrad or could be in any?

"What about a hub like Elves, which could really be in any block? Or Vampires, which could be Innistrad or could be in any?" - I like that a ton, there should be a few exceptions like isn't there an underwater elves? Like with Innistrad Vamps & werepuppies they are unique 'cause so many flip, all the werewolves for sure.
Well maybe there should only be distinctions for special groups and use Tribe for all the main races.

My problem is I don't have any clear heirarchy, so I don't know what to build.
I can do anything that works for the community, but I need a solution that's simple enough for me to do, but that fits the needs.
metalmagic says... #2
All the Alara shards and all the Ravnica guilds are already hubs in themselves.
