Deck Primers
TappedOut forum

So after searching the interwebs, I've found myself flustered at the lack of deck primers and deck techs available. Granted, there are many good ones out there, but for some decks it can be like sifting through the proverbial haystack for yon needle.
On with my point. I'd like to seek out the possibility of having deck primers available on Tapped Out. I'd also like to volunteer to write some, if someone could collaborate and conduct fancy HTML images and what not, as I'm not savvy. So, what say you good moderators yeaGO and Epochalyptik, is this something that can be done here?

In my experience, primers are best used as introductions to specific decklists. Do you mean we should amass a list of decks with their own primers, or that we should write primers for the various archetypes?
If it's the latter, I think that would probably best be done in an article or series of articles.

yeaGO and Epoch, I am proposing written primers on existing archetypes and decklists. An in depth look at the deck archetype, card choices, how it works, sideboard choices, etc.
An article series would be neat, however if there were a way to make them easily accessible/searchable, perhaps in their own forum section even, it would be more beneficial, IMHO. Is this something the T/O community would be interested in?

So...... we would just copy/paste from the mtg salvation forums?

Lol not exactly what I had in mind... But it's where the idea originated. I was hoping to be a bit more innovative and have a better system in place than MTGS. But hey.

One thing I don't like about MTGS is that they update them, but in the comments. I don't have the time to read through them all the time........ So I'm never certain if my information on a deck is correct....
Like the Jund one. I think like two months ago, it still had Bloodbraid Elf still on the primer.

Precisely what I mean. If the author of the primer could edit the content, much like a decklist here, it wouldn't be as lengthy (like some are 20+ pages!) and more organized.

What if we turned this into curated content at the hub pages? such as this
Some members would be able to maintain a description there.

Dude! I dig it! Being able to have a hub attached is awesome for the search function.

Lol well I was going to volunteer writing for the b/w tokens primer if this takes off. Maybe find certain users who know a lot about the specific archetype they play and ask them to write primers?

squire1 embarked on this journey about two years ago and he didn't get far...

Haha! xzzane has his work cut out! I do like the idea of seeking out knowledgeable community members to write a primer. Perhaps if we generate enough interest and support, it could be an awesome addition to the site. AND a valuable resource to the community.

Cool. I wrote a Modern Red Deck Wins Primer this evening. I can work on publishing it tomorrow.

I like to accompany deck lists I really like with primer-esque descriptions. Obviously that's more specific than a general primer to an archetype.

I'll get started on a b/w token primer. It may take a week or two but I think I can do a pretty good job of it. I'll be including deck lists in the primer to give people an idea of what to strive for.

@yeaGO: The problem I foresee is that some hubs, especially color hubs, are way too varied to have effective primers. Take Jund. You'd spend the entire primer talking about how Jund is oriented around advantage generation because the formats are too varied to support a unified primer. With other color combinations, the formats and the decklists are too varied.
There's also the issue of primers on Standard decks. Standard primers would need to be updated basically every set (if the primers would even include Standard at all).

Perhaps if someone wished to write a Standard primer, they could be removed after they're no longer relevant?

But then you run into the issue of not having anyone volunteer to write the primer to fill in the gap that is created by that deck falling out.
I say just avoid standard primers, but thats just me.

What about a wiki for them? Upgraded users would be able to edit it and maintain accuracy as the season progresses; this could drive up donations and I'm sure plenty of users on here would love to do that. Also, standard primers could be dated and (if you could find a way) automatically flagged on certain dates.

That could be a good idea, a link to Standard primers.
On the real, I spent hours last night and today on this rough draft of a Modern RDW primer. Please forgive any mistakes:
I didn't link any cards in the description, as that would be SUPER time consuming, but chose to include them in the 'deck.' I'd like some help with fancy flash and HTML stuff. I don't have a computer (did that on my iPhone), and I'm not savvy in the way of techie stuff.

Can you be more specific about this proposal?
