Your binder is a list of all the cards you have for trade or want to trade for. It is for public use. It is there to facilitate trades between you and other users.
Your inventory is a list of all the cards you have. It is for personal use. It is there to help you organize.
I personally hate when people use their binders as their inventories because it makes trade negotiations that much harder for everyone else. Users shouldn't have to play a back-and-forth game when trying to figure out what cards in someone's trade binder are up for trade.
