For Sale decklists on Front Page
TappedOut forum

So i've noticed today theres been a few decklists in the 'Unformat' category people are using to sell/trade cards from their collections. While this in itself is not problematic, the fact they appear on the front page in the 'Latest' category which pushes actual decks down quicker is problematic in my view. What I propose is a specific tag for 'For Sale' decklists that will not cycle to the front page. My opinion would be to have those types of decklists banned from being deckcycled, but since that would probably be going to far just limited where those types of decklists appear would be beneficial. There is a trading post forum that should be used instead of decklists IMO. What does everyone else think? Am i just being too picky? Theres so many decks its probably impossible for staff to monitor it all...

On the contrary, I've had several experiences recently where people (with trading permissions) have used decklists for the purpose of organizing their larger collections easier. They used their binder for standard cards and a deck for eternal cards. This made looking through their collection much easier. On other occasions, I've seen users using their binder for their own collection and a decklist for a friend's collection that they're helping to trade. These experiences have also been positive trading experiences.
While I know using decks for trading can be used to circumvent trading restrictions, which is something that absolutely shouldn't be allowed, I've also had super positive experiences with the superior organization of decklists.
Edit: this isn't to say there isn't a problem, but using decklists for trading has appeal beyond cheating the system. Perhaps additional features, such as an option for multiple trade binders per user, could be a good compromise?

@yeaGO: Maybe a feature to filter binders by format legality?

That could work, but if you do that can you include a filter for cards that are modern legal but not standard legal?

I like it. I don't agree with clogging the cycle queue with sales. But I'm also okay with a For Sale hub. So I don't know where we'll end up.

I still don't see a need to have trade decks or hubs if binders provide that functionality without the added problems. It might be better to pursue a separate bindercycling feature if the promotion is what matters.

I love how Epoch lurks until he's needed to properly demonstrate the power of #HammerDown.
Just sayin'

It would be a shame for the tappedout team to spend so much time developing a feature that might not be used. I personally don't intend on trading or selling cards online myself, but if theres interest and itll find use why not? All I really care about is not clogging up the main page.
Cheers

Fair considerations solarPULSAR, but while you may not be using a feature, you need to consider those who do.
The Trading Post forum does see a fair amount of activity and this would potentially help those people involved there do what they aim to do.

Bindercycling isn't really necessary. The trading post is pretty effective for advertising an interest in trading. The real need is for better binder organization.
The biggest thing I am going to request is that if you add an option to filter by format, please make it usable simultaneously with price sorting high to low. That way someone looking for standard staples in a very large binder can filter out all the cards not legal in the format and still sort the cards in a way that makes looking through them efficient.
However, sorting by format wouldn't solve the cases of trading cards for a friend or if you have a subset of cards you wish to sell rather than trade or other similar situations. The current binder system will still be inadequate in such situations.

If we're talking about making the Trading Post that flexible, at this point it sounds like the Trading Post should just end up being it's own microsite for T/O.

TMBRLZ Yes, I agree. I was just expressing a concern for development time on a feature that may or may not be used. But fair enough, I will just let the staff decide what is or isnt tenable.

well now i'm really confused because format is definitely already a filter on binders.

Decklists are not to be used for sales or trades. This practice is sometimes used to circumvent trade restrictions on new accounts.
Please report any such decks to admins; they will be deleted immediately.
