I'm not sure how many other people here play french EDH/Duel Commander, but I think it would be really useful to have a tag for the 1v1 format of EDH. Being able to favorite Duel Commander/French EDH would mean a lot less searching around the site for lists to playtest against. (Or using my own folder.)
I think that, with the different ban list and play style, the format is different enough to warrant a separate tag for those of us who enjoy 1v1 EDH games.

While I do that for all my french decks, it would be nice to put it as a tag so that they can be more easily searched. As is, I spend a lot of time looking through decks so I can add them to my folder that's primarily for playtesting. Making it a tag means I could add it to my favorite tags thingy, and have them all in one convenient place.

That would work too. But I also am guessing that that would take more work, keeping up with a separate ban list. Either way would be awesome. :)

The differences between multiplayer EDH and Duelcommander are basically the same as the differences between casual and legacy. You have access to approximately the same card pool, but the card choices are astronomically different (slightly less true for competitive multiplayer, but even then, the majority of duelcommander staples are completely unplayable). It's not so much a question of difference imo, as they are different by huge margin, but rather how popular it is. Considering that things like vintage/quest magic/extended are options (formats less popular than duelcommander), I think it definitely passes this test by TO standards.

Well, the separate ban lists are actually more of an incentive to use a different format instead of a new tag. That way, the system always has the appropriate ban information for your deck.
@Blakkhand: I'm aware of the differences between the formats; it's currently a matter of devising a system that best represents both. I just don't think that tags are the way to go.
I'm leaning strongly toward adding another format for French EDH, and, barring any convincing counterarguments, that's probably what I'll do.

I think another format would be better. I get infinite comments on my deck about how Primeval Titan is banned or something else that isn't true for Duel Commander. (A detail I include in the description) So cutting those comments off would be nice.

So, why not create a new format here for French/Duel Commander since there is a quite different banlist.
There are some of my points for it :
- Different banlist (duelcommander.fr)
- Different meta
- Easier to track
- Easier to identify
- Enables not to find Duel Commander while searching for Multiplayer Commander

I think that sounds like a sweet idea. I was just thinking of the least amount of work, though I don't know exactly how it works.

I'm willing to put in a little extra effort now if it means a better system later. I'm more concerned with usability and functionality than saving myself a few mouse clicks.

I'm sorry for digging it up. But if you need help to maintain this banlist up to date, we may be many willing to help you on that way.

I have a deck I need to update to be Duel Commander. When you add it in, can you (Epoch) just make a quick post in here saying how to change a deck from EDH to Duel Commander? (Or French, whatever)

@TurboFagoot: I added Dual Commander as a format option. It took a while because I've been trying to find a way to ban certain cards as commanders, but not from the format entirely. I haven't yet found a way to do that (I don't handle that end of site management), but the format and its regular banlist are available now.

It seems like something that would be more appropriately done in the description/name of the deck. I'm open to counterarguments, but that's generally the way I've seen it done here.
