"Funny" decks
TappedOut forum

It seems that lately there has been some "funny" decks that doesn't actually have any proper meaning and functionality. I'm talking about decks like Islands and all those Storm Crow shenanigans.
I get it. It's meant as a joke (I just don't see why those are considered as funny but that's not the point). For me the problem is that those decks seems to get ridigulous amounts of upvotes. If it was just about getting the upvotes I would be fine about it but because of that, those decks will land on top decks and that's the thing I dont like at all. Those decks takes room from proper great decks that should be there.
This is even worse when users add links that will automatically upvote their deck like you can see in Islands. That's just abusing the system.
And before I start getting hate, I'm not complaining because my own decks wont get the attention. Of course that has some meaning too but mainly I'm complaining because I would rather see those great decks that other users have done. Those that deserve the place in top decks.
I know this isn't a big problem (yet) and that is why I state my opinion now and not when it's too late.
So, my suggestion goes: we need rules that states that decks should have some proper meaning (I know, it would be hard to draw the line but at least there should be some kind of option that allows moderators to remove decks like these from top page) and some kind of change to the code that makes it impossible to add direct links to deck upvoting.
I don't personally think that these decks would belong even in the Gimmick tag. Deck can be funny and gimmicky even when it's playable. Good example of that is 11.7% OF THE TIME, IT WORKS EVERY TIME..
Tagging decks won't change the fact that decks I mentioned previously could get into the top decks. On the other hand, tagging could be the solution. If there was a new tag for these "funny" decks and that tag would make it not to show in top decks.

More that, I think the direct links to upvoting is the bigger problem if that habit starts to trend.

I think upvote links are fine, so long as they are labeled that they upvote.

Why is this even a problem? Who really cares if a deck of 60 Swamps is the top deck on the site? A "serious decks only" rule would be against the community spirit and not worth my time to enforce.

I'll tag yeaGO for the upvote links thing, though.

If those decks are getting a ridiculous amounts of votes, it just means their creators have done something ridiculously right, at least in the community's eyes.
I do agree with the hidden upvote links though, those things are unethical.

Epochalyptik, yeah, I know. It is not a big problem. More of a nuisance.
I would agree with you for the first part Seraphicate if this site was 9gag, not tappedout. For the second part, I agree completely.
I'm not saying that my way is the only correct way to do things. I wanted to start a conversation about this and see if it bothers other users too. From comments so far I can see that for most part, it doesn't. That is fine too and then the outcome should lean towards that :)

Every time I click on a link thinking it's a card and get taken to a deck instead, I wish there was a downvote button so I could make 3,287 accounts to make that deck go into the negatives.

Femme_Fatale for example in Islands the first text: "Click here if you like!" will upvote that deck. Okay, it says to click if you like it but that is the way to abuse it (also, the sentence can be interpreted the same way if it said "If it isn't a great nuicanse for you, please click here")

This shouldn't be an issue. There is a deck tag for Theme/Gimmick...if people would tag properly, then this would not be an issue. We shouldn't delete peoples deck from the top, we should provide correct tagging awareness so that we as users know what the deck is all about.
