Getting: "Errors - This type of collection may not have more than 300 items" When Trying to Update

I help manage this EDH tier list of all the legendary creatures in Magic:
[List - Multiplayer] EDH Generals by Tier
Commander / EDH*
SCORE: 606 | 6104 COMMENTS | 627205 VIEWS | IN 523 FOLDERS
I'm getting this error message when I try to edit in the C17 commanders:
Errors
- This type of collection may not have more than 300 items
This has never been a problem before.
Changing the format doesn't help. Checking/unchecking private or prototype doesn't help.
Obviously, if this is some new limit on the amount of cards allowed in a decklist, then it would spell the death of our list, as well as a lot of other resource and novelty decklists across the site.
Hoping this is just a bug.
No, still happening.
It's not just that list either, the backup version I use for preliminary edits is getting the same error:
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/list-of-all-multiplayer-edh-generals-by-tier-test/
(I can't set it to not be private, not sure if you can see it or not.)

Hey @yeaGO,
Can you help me with the same problem? I also have a list of commanders (sorted by color instead of tiers like this one) and I also have the same error when I try to update the list (Error: "This type of collection may not have more than 300 items")
The list can be found here: All Possible Commanders
I can open a new topic on the forum for this, but because the problem Sonnet666 had is the same one I have, I thought it might be better to just ask you here.

I'm also getting this error.
I build my decks by putting all my possible options for deck into a pool and switching them between Main and Maybe. This also helps me remember what options I might like to try/use in the future.
Could we please get these limits removed.
August 14, 2017 5:03 p.m.
pesmerga87 would you mind trying to add them to your inventory and then using the search option to restrict to inventory? Let me know if you have any problems with that.
Junius some problem with just converting that to an ordinary list?
August 14, 2017 5:23 p.m.
@yeaGO: What do you mean? I don't know how to convert my deck to a list. If you can, go right ahead. Do I keep the link (link: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/all-possible-commanders-1/) or will that change as well if I convert the deck?
August 14, 2017 5:29 p.m.
Junius how did people find that to begin with? do you advertise it? cycle it?
August 14, 2017 5:45 p.m.
@yeaGO: Yeah, when I started making the list, I did cycle it ocassionaly. I don't really know how people find it. Google?

yeaGO - Considering I have my whole collection (6K+ cards) is in my inventory, it would be extremely nice NOT to have look through every card whenever I'm thinking of making a switch in a deck. Especially when I don't know the name of the card I'm looking for.
Plus, since you have the option of adding custom categories in the deck lists, I generally use that so I'm able to quick search for needs and weakness from my possibilities. Making me use my inventory takes away that functionality and honestly limits the usefulness of building decks via tappedout.
Also, I sometimes even include cards that I don't currently own into deck lists. So, I'd prefer not to add them to my inventory, since they're not actually in my inventory.

I'm having the same issue here:here.
I wouldn't mind converting it to a list, but from my tests the lists seems to be limited to 2k cards. Any way I can work around this?
This list is rather useful to me as I don't repeat cards between commander decks, and I need this compiled list to check if I'm already using a card when bulding new decks.
It's also used by my friends as a reference of cards for particular functions like "Ramp" or "Removal".

I'm also starting to experience this issue. I'm working on an Ertai deck, and I like to keep a master list of all the cards that I might want in the deck. I tried adding a few new ones today, but I got the 300 card error. I know it's not on my end because I re-entered my old list as if it were a new list, under all the same settings, and I'm getting an error now. So something behind the scenes has changed that causes an error for a list that's never caused errors before.

Badaro if those decks are synced with inventory, then those cards will all easily appear in your inventory filtering for Commander.
drumfreak101 Could you convert it to an ordinary list rather than using the deck type?
August 15, 2017 5:02 p.m.
Isn't there any other option?
Syncing with the inventory "kinda" works, but it breaks its intended functionality - since I need a list of only the cards in the EDH decks, I'd be prevented from syncing Modern/Legacy/Duel/etc decks or adding cards in binders.
(Unless I'm missing something and there's a way to filter cards in q specific subset of decks)
August 15, 2017 9 p.m.
Nevermind, I'm dumb, found the filter. Let me run some tests here.
August 15, 2017 9:23 p.m.
@yeaGO How does inventory syncing work? I've been running tests with this deck and so far it seems very inconsistent.
I'm keeping the inventory open in a separate tab with caching disabled through Chrome's developer tools, but sometimes they seem to apply, sometimes they don't.
At this moment at least, it shows the incorrect amount of Warping Wail and Nature's Claim in my inventory, and I made this change several minutes ago.
August 15, 2017 9:59 p.m.
Badaro fixed a bug and discrepancies should start fixing themselves.
August 16, 2017 3:52 a.m.
yeaGO Thanks, there seems to be a small delay in replicating the changes but it's working consistently now. Let me run a few more tests and get back to you.
August 16, 2017 10:22 a.m.
yeaGO Still doesn't seem to be working correctly. I removed the Modern deck and added all 27 EDH decks. There should be 2701 cards in my inventory right now (27x100, plus one of the decks has a single card in the SB), but it's showing only:
- Total Unique: 2050
- Total Cards: 2485
Assuming this gets fixed: I think it does the bare minumum necessary, but the lack of Custom Categories there makes this a significant downgrade over using a Deck or List - I no longer have no way of searching for "Ramp" or "Removal" cards among my commander decks, which makes it much harder to evaluate card swaps.
Do you have any suggestions to work around this?

yeaGO - Any response to my comment above? or am I just out of luck?
August 16, 2017 10:46 a.m.
pesmerga87 i thought i had addressed what you had said but i don't see it. what if the default inventory search filter respected things like format and color already on the deck so that you weren't getting noisy options as you were searching. would that be an improvement? if all else fails have you considered adding the list to the site as a list, not a deck?
Badaro Custom categories could carry over to the inventory. Cards can appear "in decks" but not "in inventory". Also, the count can sometimes be confusing. I will look into it more, but it can be a little non-intuitive that cards can be "in decks" but not "in inventory" which makes them not show up in the count. I'll followup on this, but check to make sure, because I don't think anything is really missing. If something seems missing, please re-save the deck.
August 16, 2017 11:07 a.m.
yeaGO: Re-saved all decks, no change, the count remains incorrect. I don't really understand how can cards be "in deck" and not "in inventory", since everything was added there through sync (I made sure the inventory was empty before starting). Can you explain that better?
Also: I tried downloading the inventory list to see if I could write a console app to check if anything was missing, but the download was not working, it just downloaded an empty file.
Right now the only way I have to check if everything is there would be to manually check using the inventory interface, which is not viable with 2100+ different cards.

yeaGO - I think I mentioned the filters for the inventory in a separate post. Thus, why you don't see your answer here. However, while that would definitely be an improvement to the inventory section as a whole, it doesn't really solve my problem with the 300 card limit of decks.
Having to search my inventory every time I make an adjustment, would still be a major downgrade from having a decklists for each of my separate decks where I can keep a note of any possible cards and their interactions (custom categories) within that deck.
Honestly I haven't used the list feature before. What is the difference between a list and a deck? Why are they separate?
BTW - I started making a list but I can't find how I delete it completely. Where is that?
August 16, 2017 11:37 a.m.
Badaro if you could track down one item that may be missing that will be helpful. anyway, thanks, I'll keep looking too.
pesmerga87 lists don't generate a lot of meta-data associated with decks, such as charts, which is the problem I am trying to avoid with large deck lists. it sounds like if custom categories were added to inventories, that would be even more of an improvement? there should be a delete button on the edit page. let me know if lists don't seem to solve your problem.

yeaGO - Custom categories within inventory would be a cool feature, but honestly I'm not going to go back and label all 6000 of my cards in inventory. So, while I wouldn't mind having it, I definitely don't see it making a huge impact.
After I hit full edit within a list, I don't see a delete button. The only buttons I see are the "add" button and the "save list" button.
August 16, 2017 11:52 a.m.
but if you have already labelled them in your decks, they would be brought over from there
August 16, 2017 11:59 a.m.
yeaGO I honestly think a list would be a much better fit than the inventory for my needs, but if the Custom Categories were imported from the deck to the inventory and searchable then it's certainly close enough.
I'll see if I can find a card missing from the inventory, but no promises. If you manage to fix the download on the inventory I'm fairly certain I can generate a diff, though.
August 16, 2017 12:17 p.m.
yeaGO From the export there's an entry for each individual cards in the inventory, but the amounts are messed up. I think cards that appear in more than one deck (like Basic Lands) are only being counted from one deck.
August 16, 2017 2:05 p.m.
One example, there's only these two entries for Plains in the CSV:
- 31,Plains,BFZ,,,,NM,EN
- 1,Plains,BFZ,True,,,NM,EN
But according to my data there should be ~130 Plains in there.
August 16, 2017 2:09 p.m.
Re-saved everything again. The count on the Inverntory page still makes no sense, but at least the export looks correct.

yeaGO - I was trying to use the list (instead of deck) feature to make a list of cards I may want to purchase in the future. However, I accidentally hit the add to inventory button. I didn't want to add them to my inventory, because I don't actually currently own them. (unlike the 6k cards my inventory consisted of previously)
Is there a way I can reverse this, without having to dig thru my inventory and delete them one by one. Or, without deleting my inventory completely.
UGhhhhh!!!! Another reason using the decks option was better than the lists option. No accidental mis-clicks.
August 17, 2017 2:03 p.m.
Badaro fixed that total
pesmerga87 not much i can do about that, besides maybe a pop-up warning.

ok, I went thru and deleted them one at a time, but now it won't load my inventory...
August 17, 2017 5:02 p.m.
yeaGO Inventory looks correct now.
Are you going to implement the Custom Categories export to Inventory we spoke before? If you aren't I'll need to look for alternatives for my list.

Why did this change though? In the past, I could drop 2000 cards into a Private, Prototype deck of any format and then eliminate cards as I went until I got the deck down to the format-specific deck size. I can't do this now? A terrible update. If this is intentional, it might even be annoying enough that I stop using the site altogether. What a pain.
August 18, 2017 4:39 a.m.
hmm, well that is an interesting approach. are you basically just filling your maybeboard with all possible cards?
August 18, 2017 6:45 a.m.
Performance issues and garbage data from people adding lots of strange things as decks.
August 18, 2017 8:46 a.m.
soulwarden11 increased size of maybeboard, hopefully that suits your use case
August 18, 2017 8:50 a.m.
Thanks for the effort.I had the same error message, now it is gone but I receive a similar one "This type of collection may not have more than 100 items"(the deck is my wishlist and there are more than 400 cards). The only way to save the list is to use the section "maybe", but I cannot re-organise the cards according to the colors :(Am I the only one receiving this message?
August 18, 2017 11:19 a.m.
I can't save a prototype of the commander deck I'm working on with the same issueErrorsThis type of collection may not have more than 100 itemsI tried switching format but nothing changed.
