Goofing around with a logo redesign...

so here's just a reimagining of the logo i came up with last night. It's just a basic one which I plan to change and add detail to a bit later. the main reason i made it was cause i was playing around with T/O sleeves over in Femme's thread in the Gear section about if we wanted to have site sleeves to show off at tournaments, and i needed a higher res logo, then i started thinking that the current logo doesnt look crisp and "minimalist" compared to say, SCG's logo, so i decided to try this out for kicks.

I think an even distribution of all the colors is a better representation of an open community.

Please remember to format your image tags properly. You were missing the closing %"
I prefer the current logo. I'm generally not a fan of super saturated, super bright logos.

I can deafen the colors a tad and not put a rotation on it, and have a bit more outside border.

Ugh, that really does not look symmetrical. That should be your top priority x.x
And I fixed the logos myself when I was making them custom sleeve worthy. That's all you have to do, is fix the logos we have currently.

Femme_Fatale, it's only because I put a 3d rotation on it because the current logo is tilted to the same side a tiny bit. I think I put too much on it though. I just wanted to make sure you know thats why it's not symmetrical and is not because I'm just bad or something lol
I can use the one we have, I just thought a fresh logo might be a nice change...oh well. Do you have a larger res of the current wheel?

Nope. I just made it higher quality by hand. T/O doesn't have a higher res images. The one I posted on my thread are the highest resolution images possible. If we wanted something higher res would would have to clean up all the artifacting it would cause.

Also, you don't need to put a rotation on it. It may look like the wheel is tilted to the side, but that's just edge effects. The actual center colour section of the wheel is perfectly symmetrical and face flat towards the viewer.

maybe you can ask yeaGO if he has a high res image of the logo to make sleeves etc?

I have 2 ideas that you can work with.
One, make it symmetrical.
Two, try to make it represent how many of each color is used over the entire website. There's probably a way to know.

Jayfeather how much each color is used here changes week to week I'm sure so what's the point in that?

Idk, but it would represent the community. It can be coded to reset automatically.

I'm sure it could, but in order to do that we would have to add a color pie graph XML type thing like from Excel that adjusts dynamically based on that data and thats something that nobody would wanna fiddle with, for the logo at least. having a logo that changes all the time isn't really a good plan. i don't know about that sort of thing on the home page but I'm not the person to talk to about that.

That would be a function for someplace other than the logos. Logos are meant for advertisement. They are supposed to stay the same all the time so people can recognize them. Why do you think Coca Cola has never changed their logo all these years? Because it works, and people identify it easily. Logos that aren't that good get changed all the time, like Nestea Cool. It would be a bad image for the site if the logo was different everywhere you looked. It would look unprofessional, and the reasoning behind it being there would just be looked upon as an excuse to be lazy.

I think the TappedOut logo is fine it's literally just a colour wheel with TappedOut over it.
